Russ Coulombe

Roster Image Pitching Coach

Coach Coulombe is civil engineer working for a consulting firm in Edmonton.  He has lived in Alberta his entire life between Edmonton, Lloydminster, and Bonnyville and played minor ball in those communities starting when he was 11. He attended Team Alberta Winter Camps in 1989/1990 and 1990/1991.  In his final year of midget ball in 1991, the Town of Bonnyville decided to rebuild their baseball field which meant he had to go elsewhere.  Many of his teammates travelled to Fort Saskatchewan to play Midget AAA and while that was an option for him, he decided to play Midget AA in St. Paul as their head coach was Harold Northcott, former left-handed pitcher for Team Canada, which turned out to be the best decision of his baseball career.  He played for the St. Albert Tigers Junior AAA team in 1992 to 1994 and the St. Albert Tigers Senior AAA team for part of 1995, attending two Western Canadian Championships during those years.  After a break from baseball while he attended university, and turning down an opportunity to attend a junior college in Tennessee, Coulombe restarted his playing career in 2000 for the Lloydminster Twins Senior AA team where he played for three seasons.  In 2003 due to the huge growth of baseball in Lloydminster, he left the Twins to start a new senior team, the Border City Blue Jays, where he was player coach until 2005.  While his playing career is now limited to some slo-pitch, he has been coaching kids at the rally cap, rookie, and mosquito level  in Beaumont since 2008.
