The Breckinridge County Youth Football League (BCYFL) “Little” Tigers!

The Breckinridge County Youth Football League (BCYFL) is organized to strive to develop and operate a safe and fun youth football league program in Breckinridge County for Ages 7 thru 12.  In conjunction with such purpose, the objective of this league is that through the medium of a supervised and competitive football program, this league will seek to implant in the youth of the community ideals of good sportsmanship, discipline, honesty, loyalty, courage, and teamwork. BCYFL is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization administered by the Breckinridge County High School Varsity Football Head Coach Brent Hottell & Staff.

In 2011, the Presidents of the Breckinridge County, Hardin County, Larue County, and Taylor County Youth Football Leagues teamed up to form the Mid-Kentucky Youth Football Conference to mutually be the governing body that sets playing rules, standards, and schedules with each other during the football season. Together, we teamed up to create a set of rules and standards for our kids to have a lot of fun, face other county teams, and to play safely. Since the 2011 Season, we have had tremendous growth within our counties participants and have had several other youth leagues want to join in on the fun. Three of the original "founding" members remain apart of the board today and meet regularly to grow the conference.

For the 2014 Season; Breckinridge County Youth Football League will play New Haven, Campbellsville, Hardin County, Larue County, and Taylor County Youth Football Leagues this year.

Safety is the most important issue to all four of the leagues.

BCYFL is an official member of the American Youth Football and Cheer Organization (AYF). In an effort to positively impact youth in underserved communities, American Youth Football and Cheer was established in 1996.  Their mission is to support the wholesome development of youth through their association with adult leaders in the sport of American football. They promote an atmosphere of safety and competitive balance that encourages participation by our youth in football-related activities that educates and develops adult leaders within the sport, and emphasizes the importance of giving back to the communities that partner with them in these efforts.

Sportsmanship – BCYFL & AYF share the creed of "honor the game". The values learned in football stand the test of time. Most Community and National Leaders in our Country developed a work ethic and social skills on the "100 yard classroom". Playing football requires a sense of teamwork, perseverance, and self-sacrifice. Learning to "get back up" is a critical component of playing football. No team is permitted to continue scoring points to humiliate an opponent. We go to a running clock if one team is 18 points ahead of their opponent. Players are encouraged to maintain high academic standards at all times. When a youth plays football, he will forever possess a sense of courageous accomplishment and a deep respect for the game.

The BCYFL 2014 Season offers 03 team age groups for 11-man full-contact football: 7 & 8 Year Old, 9 & 10 Year Old, and 11 & 12 Year Old Teams. We do not offer a flag football program at this time.

BCYFL normally plays all games on Saturdays. Although we may try to have a couple of scrimmages throughout the 2014 season on Sunday (early in the afternoon) and get a chance to develop further playing experiences with some other local leagues while building future football relationships.

The Breck. Co.“Little” Tigers usually have 8–10 Season Games during a season with 4-5 of those being played at home (Breckinridge County High School Football Field). Away games will be played at either Hardin County or some possibly at Larue County. When we play against Taylor County, Campbellsville, or New Haven, we will play at either of these same to locations. Taylor County, Campbellsville, New Haven, & the BCYFL have agreed to meet at either location to reduce each leagues & teams travel expenses.

At the end of the regular season, we usually have the playoffs and strive to win the “Super Bowl” trophy (for each age team) to wrap up the season. Our season usually runs from August 1st (Registrations and training begins for athletes.) thru early-mid November. Our 1st Official Game is normally the 1st Saturday after Labor Day. This year, our first game is Sept. 06, 2014.

The league has received a very gracious amount of support from the community these past seasons. We are very thankful to all of the businesses and individuals that have helped us these past several years.

We also wish to say a special thank you to: Mrs. Janet Meeks – Superintendent of the Breck. Co. Board of Education and Mr. Walt Hildenbrandt - Breck. Co. High School Athletic Director.

Thank you in advance for your support of the Breckinridge County Youth Football Program. – BCYFL

Please come out, enjoy refreshments, and support our “Little” Tigers at Tiger Stadium for home games this 2014 Season!
