Huntingdon hosted Hollidaysburg Thursday in a rematch from last year’s District 6-AAA championship match. The Bearcats battled through a scoreless first half but it was the Tigers able find some goals to win 3-0. The Bearcats (4-1) fell 2-0 in the district title game last season to the Tigers. This early season meeting let’s both teams get a look at each other and the potential remains for them to play again in postseason. “It was a tough match,” Huntingdon head coach Michael Armstrong said. “We played a solid first half, moved the ball around and created multiple opportunities but couldn’t convert.” Hollidaysburg comes at you with a physical style of play. The Tigers found some more scoring chances in the second half. Less than six minutes into the second half the Tigers were able to get on the board with a bouncing ball in the box. They scored again with 27:32 still to play. The third goal was a nice shot that curled to the far post side netting by McKenna Hurd with 14:37 left on the clock. The Bearcats (3-1) won the junior varsity match 3-1. Huntingdon heads to Penns Valley Tuesday.
