Huntingdon loses 5-0 at Central

Huntingdon started the new week with a tough match at Central Monday. The Bearcats had their moments, but the Scarlet Dragons played the better game and won 5-0.

It was only the second time this season the ‘Cats (5-2-1) have been shutout, the first being 3-0 against Hollidaysburg.

Head coach Michael Armstrong saw some good things, but also said the defense may have been a little timid.

“It was a physical battle. Possession looked good but we couldn’t convert.”

Ashley Negley scored three goals for Central.

Huntingdon kept from falling behind any further in the second half. Junior Varsity players got their chance to do some work and played well.

“Play from Lissy Kinder and Katelyn Kelsey during the end of the second half showed how physicality and hard work can change a game,” remarked Armstrong.

The Bearcats are back home Wednesday against Bellefonte. The season-opener saw Huntingdon top the Red Raiders 1-0.

Junior High

Huntingdon’s girl’s junior high team came up just shot against visiting Spring Cove 2-1.

Spring Cove outshot the Bearcats (3-3) 11-5. Simone Bilich had nine saves for Huntingdon.

Cynthia Fagan scored her first goal of the season for the ‘Cats.
