Feb 20, 2012 - Jackets for family and friends

Cardinals Families,

We will be placing an order for the Coaches Jackets for family members of both the Peewee and Micro Cardinals.  This is completely optional and not paid for with team funds.   These are the same jackets that  you see the parents and some of the kids who were on the Peewee team last year wearing.    These are not the team jackets for the kids.  Those will be different and ordered with team funds once we get all our Sponsorships turned in (hint hint).

The total price of each jacket is below.   I am basing the prices off the shipping costs for the sample team jackets we have ordered, however those jackets are heavier so the total cost may be a little less.   If the total cost is less, you will receive a refund when you get your jacket.  The jackets will have the Cardinals logo stitched on the front of the jacket, if you would like a name as well you will need to provide the information when you give me your payment.  I would like to place the order next Monday, so if you are interested you need to get me the payment and size information by this weekend.

The cost is as follows...

Kids sizes extra small to adult size large will be $25.50 Adult XL $26.50 Adult 2XL $27.50 Adult 3XL $29.50

Once again this is completely optional so please do not feel like you need to order a jacket.  Your support cheering the kids on is all we need!!!

Feb 20, 2012 - Pictures/Banner/Sponsors

Micro Cardinals Family,

It has been great getting to watch all the kids together during practice, they all seem to really be enjoying the drills and each other. Picture day is coming up soon. I will be handing out the order forms for pictures during the next few practices.

Picture day is on March 3rd at the Brier Field which is the same day as the pancake breakfast (8am-12pm) and the Hit-a-Thon.

The Micro Cardinals are scheduled to take pictures at 10:30am. To keep pictures running smoothly they ask that you have your order form completed before you arrive at the fields. Each player gets a basic package for being a league player (1 5X7 team picture, 1- button, 1 3x5 individual picture and 4 wallets). If you choose to purchase additional pictures the company will not be able to provide change so check or exact cash is needed.

Immediately after the pictures we will participate in the Hit-a-Thon. I am attaching the form so you can start working on pledges (a flat donation is the easiest way to go). Each team member is required to bring in $25 of pledges for the Hit-a Thon, this portion goes directly to the league. Anything over $25 will go towards our $600 obligation to the league. I will also have copies of the form with me so if you need a copy please just ask. As of right we only have the one Team Sponsorship from Joe, please make every effort to get Sponsorships and turn them in to me as soon as possible. We really want the kids to have their jackets for opening day.

The last item is the team banner, we are ordering the team banner this week to ensure we have it for our pictures. We are asking for $10 from each player so we can purchase the banner. Many of you have already given me the money, for those of you that have not if you can please bring it to the next practice it would be much appreciated. The last thing I need is an email from each family letting me know that the spelling of your child's name is correct, as this will be what is printed on the team banner.

I have also attached a form for a league fundraiser at Big5, all you have to do is bring the attached form in with you and the FNYB league will receive 5% of your total purchase.  I look forward to seeing you at the next practice.

Feb 10, 2012 - Team Meeting

I just wanted to thank all of you for coming last night, it was nice seeing everyone!

I just wanted to make sure everyone is clear on the events taking place this weekend.  Tomorrow morning is clean-up day at the Brier fields.  I am asking that each family put in about an hour sometime between 9-11am. Remember, we get an hour for each person you bring, so 2 parents and a child for 1 hour = 3 hours of time.

Then at 11:30-1pm we will be practicing at Irvington High School on the same field we were on last week.

On Sunday we have the peewee field from 3-5pm.  After talking to many of you last night you guys sound just as excited as I am to get out there and practice.  I will plan to be out on the peewee field at Brier this Sunday from 3-4:30pm if you can make it out there.

Our practice schedule starting after this Sunday until opening day will be as follows:

Sunday's 3-4:30 peewee field at Brier

Wednesday's 4:30-6pm micro field at Brier

Saturday peewee field at Brier

If you could please let me know before a practice if you CANNOT be there so I can plan accordingly.

Thank you,

Coach Heather

Feb 8, 2012 - Great first practice

The first practice went well. The kids were really in to it and had a good time.

This week we have a busy schedule with the team meeting and the field cleanup, not to mention that we also want to get a practice in.

Hope you all can make it!

Jan 11, 2012 - Coach Heather is fired up!

Now that things are starting to get underway, Coach Heather is really getting fired up.

She is going to start coordinating batting practice to get the kids a little head start.

Batting practice will be at the Cricket Strike Zone in Union City - http://www.cricketstrikezone.com/ . The cost is $7 per player. She'd like to try and schedule 3 players per 1/2 hour to be able to spend a lot of individual time. Please try and make it if you can and let Heather know.
