Wahama Wins 7v7
Jun. 30, 2017
Tonight, the Wahama White Falcons won a 7v7 tournament hosted on our campus at Wahama High School. Schools from Point Pleasant, Hannan, Eastern, and Alexander sent teams to the event. The White Falcon linemen also gave a strong performance in winning the Big Man Challenge.
Defensively for the White Falcons, Brayden "Bambi" Davenport gave a solid performance from his safety position with two interceptions and a solid night of coverage overall. Christian Thomas also had an interception as an outside linebacker. Ronin Madill and Johnnie Board continue to show a level of physicality that should set the stage for an improved defense this fall. Jacob Fisher, also, quietly had a solid night in pass coverage for the Bend Area team.
Offensively, Bryton Grate had a "Grate" night throwing the football. He showed an accurate touch on his passes and has improved his decision making skills. The White Falcons only turned the ball over one time on the whole evening. Christian Thomas led the way as a receiver. Solid performances were also turned in by Brady Bumgarner and Johnnie Board. Brayden Davenport also came up some key catches for Wahama. Hunter Board and Nick Brewer showed that they have the ability to really help the team this year.
In the Big Man competition, Critter Hesson, Kyle Marr, Braden Weaver, Garrett Snouffer, Carson Eades all turned in solid performances in leading the way to a team victory in that competition. The team got assistance from Jacob Fisher as well.
A handful of freshmen made appearances in the 7v7 and showed they have really improved from their junior high careers. Brennan Grate, Owen Richardson, Austin Brooks, and Braden Shell all saw playing time this evening.
It was a solid performance overall. The White Falcons will be returning to the weight room on July 6 at 7pm. Weight room hours have been moved to 7pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. We have a great opportunity this fall. We need to finsih out the summer in a strong fashion. Your attendance in the weight room is expected the rest of the way. Improving our strength, playing good defense and taking care of the football is a solid recipe for a much improved season this fall.
Wahama has one final 7v7 this summer on July 22 at Kentucky Christian University. It will be an allday event. Plans will be formulated to provide food for the boys who attend. A BIG thank you to all the parents who made donations and made the concession stand a big success this evening!
