T.W.I.B. Notes:

Jul 31, 2016 - Furious Rally by STAMPEDE Falls Short; Edged 8-7 by Madison

Today's playoff action saw Madison Baseball nick Salvatore for a 1st inning run on 2 singles and a fielder's choice.  Home team Smithtown quickly jumped on Madison pitching to take a 3-1 lead B1st with Hit Man Anthony's hot bat lining a single to RF to get Smithtown going.  Rob dropped a sneaky bunt on the third base line and was nipped at first base, moving Anthony into scoring position.  Nick crushed a triple to the fence in right center, easily scoring Anthony to tie the game at 1 - 1.  Big Red grounded an infield single to the SS hole to score Nick for the lead.   Frankie then doubled to give Smithtown

Jul 30, 2016 - Smithtown Wins On Walkoff Over Rebels, 4-3

In a rematch from the previous War at the Shore tournaments, Smithtown was again pitted against the All Pro Rebels, whom they defeated in semi-final action just 2 weeks ago.  Smithtown would fall behind quickly with All Pro scoring 2 runs on surprise starter Zack in the top of the 1st.  Two singles, a fielder's choice, and a wild pitch would put the Rebels on the board.  Zack would struggle through the 2nd inning as he issued 2 walks, hit a

Jul 30, 2016 - STAMPEDE Edges Batters Box 7-6 in Summer Sizzler Opener

Smithtown, in defense of their Title 2 weeks ago at War at the Shore, won the flip to be home team.  That put Rob on the mound to face the Batters Box Renegades.  Rob (2 IP, 4 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 3 S0) escaped the 1st inning after a 2 out single and stolen base, but quickly saw his pitch count rise in the 2nd inning.  He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, but 2 balks and wild pitch compounded his tricky inning.  After walking the first 2 batters in the 3rd, Nick was summoned to the mound in relief.  Nick went the distance for the victory, allowing 5 hits, but only 1 earned

Jul 17, 2016 - STAMPEDE Takes TITLE at War at the Shore!

The Mission:  Championship.  The way:  Think. Concentrate.

The Smithtown STAMPEDE advanced to the War at the Shore Championship game after their defeat of the Shoreline Riptide (1-0) earlier in the day.  Smithtown finished their semi-final game at 10:30AM and would have to wait until 5PM to play for the title.  Waiting six plus hours is a tough task for any team, but Smithtown was up to the challenge with some big-time complete-game heat from Frankie on the mound... and another late-inning clutch blast from Nick the Stick that would produce the go-ahead/winning run.

Jul 17, 2016 - STAMPEDE Prevails in Pitchers' Duel; Championship Game Next

The Smithtown STAMPEDE squared off against the college-player team from Connecticut, the Shoreline Riptide in the 3rd game of the War at the Shore tournament.  In what quickly developed into a pitcher vs. pitcher showdown, he who "flinched" first would surely be in the most difficult of positions.  With Anthony working a Smithtown walk to begin the game, he would be their only baserunner until the top of the 7th.  As quiet as the Smithtown bats were, Josh was throwing his own masterpiece
