Architectural Drafting is the technical drawing and model creation of structures that are used by architects and others for a number of purposes, including development of adesign idea into a coherent proposal, communicating ideas and concepts, convincing clients of the merits of a design, enabling a building contractor to construct it, recording of the completed work, and to make a record of a building that already exists.

Architectural drawings are made according to a set of conventions which include particular views (floor plan, section etc.), sheet sizes, units of measurement and scales, annotation and cross referencing. The use of CAD software is used to create the drawings, and a variety of materials are used to create the models.
