Congrats to Blake Hayes and Anthony Lopez on their PRs in the 1600!  And congrats to Alison Appelgate on racing to a PR in the 1600 also.  Isabella Aguiar finished 2nd in the 3200, and Haley Platt set a PR in it.

TPHS vs Carlsbad/ 25 April 2018:

 
  Another great day on the track for our distance athletes! Haley Platt continued her amazing season as she won the 1600 with a PR, and Paige Endres won the JV 1600 with a PR.  Led by Isabella Aguiar, the Varsity Girls placed 1-4 in the 800, as Siena Fischel and Eva Mountzouris raced to PRs.  In the JV 800. Autumn Bulibrek set a PR.
The Varsity Boys set PRs in the 800.  Congrats to Blake Hayes, Nick Salz, Anthony Lopez and Reinhard Bartsch!  Plus, Alak Fryt raced to a PR in the 800.  Will Daniels set in a PR in the 800 and a big PR in the 1600!  Congrats to Cormac O'Brien on breaking 5:00 for the 1600!

Go Falcons!   TPHS @ Sage Creek/ 18 April 2018: Congrats on everyone's great performances! Blake Hayes and Nick Salz raced to PRs in the 1600 with times of 4:36 and 4:37!  Freshmen Cormac O'Brien and Sebastian Barclay continue to impress in the 800.  Both finishes in 2:06 for PRs.  Freshman Reinhard Bartsch ran 10:29 for his 3200.
Varsity Girls Isabella Aguiar, Emma Largerie and Alison Appelgate finished 1,2 and 3 in the 1600.  Alison set a PR.  Sarah Sutton also set a big PR.  Way to go ladies!  Eva Mountzouris continues to excel, and she set a PR in the 3200.

TPHS vs Canyon Crest Academy/ 4 April 2018:

 


 

Our distance athletes ran some great races!

The Freshman boys are continuing to gain speed.  Derek Rodriquez and Luca Bombelli broke 5:00 for the 1600.  They ran 4:58 and 4:59 respectively.  Plus, Reinhard Bartsch set a PR of 4:42, and Robert Bartsch won the Varsity race with 4:33.  Freshmen Cormac O'Brien and Sebastian Barclay excelled in the 800 with 2:07 and 2:09.  Seniors Alan Edmonds and Blake Hayes set PRs in the 3200. 

Senior Isabella Aguiar won the 800.  And Senior Haley Platt continues to improve her times.  She set a new PR for the 3200.  Eva Mountzouris also posted a new PR in the 1600.  Way to go ladies!

TPHS vs San Dieguito Academy/ 29 March 2018:

 


 

Congrats to our athletes on their fine performances!

Seniors Blake Hayes and Alan Edmonds set new PRs in the 800 (2:08 and 2:10 respectively).  Senior Travis Hellenkamp continues to set PRs.  This time for the 1600.  In the 3200, Sophomore Josh Mendez with a PR of 10:13, and Freshman Rein Bartsch finished 3rd in 10:33.

Senior Haley Platt continues to excel:  she won the 3200 with a PR of 11:52.  Plus, Alison Appelgate finished 2nd.  Emma Largerie set a PR in the 800, and she finished 2nd.

Falcon Relays/ 17 March 2018:

 


 

Hooray we survived the rain!  And the sun even came out to shine. 

Congrats to the Girls Varsity 4x1600 team for winning D1!  And the Varsity Girls finished 2nd for the D1 4x800 relay.  And here's a look at the Varsity DMR.

The Freshman Boys raced to 1st for the D1 Novice DMR!  The Varsity Boys finished 3rd for D1 in the DMR.  The Varsity Boys finished 2nd in the D1 4x800 relay and the D1 4x1600 relay.

Overall the Falcons finished 2nd as a team.  You won't want to miss the coaches in action!  They finished 2nd.

TPHS vs Mt Carmel High School/ 15 March 2018:

 


Another great day on the track for our distance athletes!

The Varsity boys exceled at the 800: Travis Hellenkamp, Robert Bartsch, Blake Hayes, and Nick Salz all earned PR's.  Freshman Sebastian Barclay continued to impress with his speed. Luca Bombelli set a PR in the 1600m.  Nick Volpe PRed in 3200m by 30 seconds!  Varsity Distance 4x400m beat the sprints, and the Freshman Falcons won the 4x400m.

Haley Platt and Allison Appelgate have continued their successes this season with PRs in the 800m.  Plus, the JV ladies won the 4x400m.

TPHS @ San Pasqual High School/ 8 March 2018:

 


Track season is off to an exciting start for the distance athletes.  All their hard work in the off-season is paying off.  Rachel Riddle, Siena Fischel, and Eva Mountzouris set PRs in the 800 (2:42 each).  Alison Appelgate and Haley Platt set huge PRs (5:40 and 5:42, respectively) in the 1600.  Way to go ladies!

Three freshmen broke 5:00 for the 1600!  Congrats to Dalton Beeler (4:55), Reinhard Bartsch (4:56), and Sebastian Barclay (4:59).  Seniors Alan Edmonds and Blake Hellenkamp and Junior Tristan Cany set PRs for the 1600 (4:42, 4:44 and 4:55 respectively).  Plus, Alan set a PR in the 800. Anthony Lopez and Josh Mendez also raced to big PRs in the 800.

Mt Carmel Field & Distance Carnival/ 3 March 2018:

 


There were many great performances at the field and distance carnival!  Senior Anthony Lopez took 3rd in his heat of the 1600m with a 4:47, a PR.  Nicholas Volpe and Josh Mendez also PR'd in the 1600m with 5:37 and 4:43, respectively.  Freshman Cormac O'Brien earned 2nd in his heat of the 800m with a 2:10.  Also, the Boys' DMR A team (Travis Hellenkamp, Bryant Castillo, AJ Castellanos, Robby Bartsch) raced to 2nd!  The Freshmen boys did awesome in the 1600:  Reinhard Bartsch 5:02, Derek Rodriguez 5:03, and James Cusack 5:07.

The Girls' DMR team finished in 7th.  In the 1600, Rachel Riddle ran sub 6:00!  Hannah Jian finished 8th, Nicole MacRae 9th and Emma Lee 13th in the Freshman 800.  Plus, Zhoujie Yu would have finished 10th if she had competed in the Freshman division.  Way to go ladies!

Such great performances at tryouts!  Congrats to Robby Bartsch and Izzy Aguiar on winning the time trials.  New additions to the team, Sebastian Barclay and Cormac O'Brien, looked really strong!  The Freshman boys team looks very promising!  Junior Alison Appelgate and Senior Haley Platt had fine performances also.  

The future is looking bright for our distance track athletes.

CIF Finals/ 18 Nov 2017/ Morley Field:


 

 

 

Congrats to the Varsity Boys for placing 2nd in Division 1. They made it to state!  All of the boys had phenomenal races, with Travis under sixteen minutes.  Woohoo!

The girls all had great races, finishing fourth as a team.  Izzy Aguiar finished seventh in the race, and qualified individually for the state meet next week!

League Finals/ 11 Nov 2017/ Kit Carson Park:

 


 

Congrats to the boys team for placing second at League Finals this week!  They were led by Senior Travis Hellenkamp, who placed third. Four boys medaled: Travis Hellenkamp, Robert Bartsch, Nick Salz, and Alan Edmonds.  Anthony Lopez had a phenomenal race, and he placed 5th on the team.  The girls were paced by Izzy Aguiar.  She finished 6th.  Three other girls medaled:  Paige Endres, Alison Appelgate, and Vanessa Beeler.  Way to go Varsity!

Congrats to the JV boys team for taking first this week.  They were led by Freshmen Austin Nguyen, who won the race, and Reinhard Bartsch, who was third.  The Varsity boys were led by Travis Hellenkamp, who was fifth in the race.

Mt SAC Invitational/ 21 Oct 2017:

 


 

Amazing job for Torrey Pines at Mt. Sac this weekend!  Freshman boys and Varsity Girls placed 1st and the Varsity boys also had a great race. All of the Varsity boys set PRs. The varsity girls, led by Vanessa Beeler, all set PRs; and they took home the coveted backpacks for winning Division 1. Last, but not least, the Freshman boys won their race and all had their best races this season.  Top 5 Freshmen were all under 18 (with Rein Bartsch under 17).  In a tremendous show of dedication, freshman Chris Zhang finished the race despite falling and injuring his face (prognosis looks good, though).  Rein and Austin Nguyen won individual medals also.  Way to go!

Clovis Invitational/ 7 Oct 2017/ Woodward Park:

 


 

Congrats to the Varsity Girls for placing 5th at Clovis!  Izzy Aguiar led the team with her 6th place finish!  Freshman Paige Endres continued to impress with her speed.  She finished 3rd among the Falcon Ladies.  Both Alison Appelgate and Eva Mountzouris set PRs also.

Among the Varsity boys, Robert Bartsch placed 8th with a PR of 15:45!  Plus, Tristan Cany ran a phenomenal race and set a big PR!  Travis Hellenkamp and Josh Mendez also set PRs.

Avocado West League Cluster #1/ 29 Sep 2017/ Guajome Park:

 


 

The Freshmen boys continue to excel!  They were the top seven Falcon JV finishers.  The JV placed 2nd.  Freshman Reinhard Bartsch placed 3rd in the JV division, and he ran the 5th fastest time for the Falcon Boys.  Austin Nguyen is moving up the ranks, and he finished 8th.

Among the Varsity boys, Robert Bartsch (3), Nick Salz (8), Travis Hellenkamp (9), and Blake Hayes (21) set PRs.  The Varsity Boys placed 3rd as a team.

The Varsity girls also finished 3rd as a team.  Several ladies set PRs:  Isabella Aguiar, Alison Appelgate, Haley Platt, and Eva Mountzouris.  Plus, Freshman Paige Endres continues to impress.

The JV girls were led by Rachel Riddle (4).  The Freshmen Nicole MacRae and Zhoujie Yu were looking strong!  The JV girls also placed 3rd as a team.

This week we have 2 meets:  The Top 7 Girls and the Top 7 Boys will be competing in the Clovis Invitational and everyone else will be back at Guajome Park on Saturday for the So Cal Invititational.

Mt Carmel Invite 16 Sep 2017/ Morley Field:

 


 

The Falcon runners raced to great times yesterday.  So many medals earned!

The Senior Girls had an amazing meet!  Every girl medaled:  Isabella Aguiar, Vanessa Beeler, Emma Largerie, Habeeba Kamel, Haley Platt, and Alexandra Roll.  Plus, they placed 2nd as a team!

The Senior Boys were also looking strong.  Robert Bartsch, Alan Edmonds, Travis Hellenkamp, and Blake Hayes raced to medals!

The Freshman Boys continued to perform well.  Reinhard Bartsch, Austin Nguyen, Dalton Beeler, and James Cusack earned medals. 

Other standouts performers included Nick Salz (5th) and Josh Mendez (8th) in the Sophomore Boys division.  Eva Mountzouris blew out her old PR by nearly 4 minutes!  Paige Endres had another phenomenal performance and placed 10th in a competitive Freshman race.  Alison Appelgate placed 16th in the Juniors.

More medalists:  Tristan Cany, Zhoujie Yu, Rachel Riddle, Siena Fischel, and Camryn McAllister.

Our next meet will be the Avocado West Cluster #1 at Guajome Park on Friday, 9.29.17.

Bronco Roundup 9 Sep 2017/ Kit Carson Park:

 


 

The Freshman Boys team started off the season right!  They finished 1st!  They were 70 points ahead of their nearest competitor!

And congrats to the Varsity Boys team!  They finished 2nd (only 1 point away from the winning team).

And wow!  Freshman Paige Endres raced to 13:15 with a 3rd place finish for Freshman Girls.  Her time placed her 3rd among the Falcon Ladies Finishers!

All of our athletes were looking strong and fast!  Nearly everyone had a PR!

Welcome to TPHS XC!  And welcome back to all of our returning athletes!

Everyone was looking strong as they raced past the beautiful wild flowers along the Coast to Crest trail.  All those days of climbing "the hill" are paying off, and everybody should be ready to conquer the XC courses this season!
