Well, last weekend we played in a very competitive tournament with the 11U group. We won 3 and lost 2; we finished 4th and were seeded 4th with 2-0 record on Sunday. There were some very good teams from New Jersey, South Carolina, Pennsylvannia and Virginia.
It is early in the season and we made some errors and didn't hit exceptional, the team that won was 5-0 and were very good. Venom finished 6th.
I will try to use this site. The other one isn't my thing.
Back to Back Tournament Championship wins. Virginia Mariners 11U won the AA bracket in Fredricksburg. The first game was a blowout. SOMD 2 Virginia Mariners 25. I think that game was the longest one I have ever been too. We hit, hit and hit. We ran to try and get outs, bunted to try to get outs, but South Maryland could not field a ball clean. Then we played RBA South Nationals and the strike zone was unhitable and inconsistent to say the least. We lost 8-7; not to blame it on the umpire behind the plate but, he was terrible. Plus we played below our ability. That was the last time. On Sunday we were the #2 seed behind RBA; We 10 runned the rest.
Ayden, Jay,and Luke all three homered in the Championship Game....1st ever. How proud are we for their accompolishment. MORE TO COME!!!!
Well what a weekend. Although, I was not at the State Tournament this weekend I think I heard all the stories and got involved in settling the last games rule challenge. 5-0 for the weekend, we played unknowns; Commonwealth Cardinals to the known teams; Tidewater Drillers. We saw 15 teams in the tournament and our boys played at peak performance each day. How exciting!!!
Practice has paid off....hitting was at a premium; base running; bunting; pitching; it all adds to the game.
The rings are ordered I understand and the boys of fall will get their due soon.
We have Fredricksburg coming up and another opportunity to play some more before fall comes to an end. Congrats....to us all!!! The boys played hard!!!
