Ever thought about playing lawn bowls? Giving it a try maybe? Well, here’s your opportunity at Wimbledon Park Bowls Club. The club is located in front of the pavilion near to the watersports centre/lake in Wimbledon Park - SW19 7HX.

- Organised opportunities to play on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday or Sunday

- The bowls green is open 7 days a week from 11.00am until dusk, from the end of April until the end of September.

Aug 30, 2014 - What a Comeback!

This afternoon Wimbledon Park Ladies visited Heathfield Ladies for a two-triple match - the hospitality was great and the threatening rain kept away leading to a close contest on the green. With the home side getting off to a flying start on both rinks Wimbledon Park found themselves with some work to do. Mary, Margaret and Betty produced a second half to be proud of, closing the gap but eventually just losing 11 - 16. Sabrina, Helen and Ann H also found themselves with some work to do but picking up a 4 and a 3 on consecutive ends changed the momentum in their favour and they went on to win 16 - 13. Thanks to Heathfield for a lovely afternoon!

Aug 30, 2014 - Surrey Beat 3 Time Champions Devon in the Junior Double Rink

After a comfortable 61 - 12 win against Durham this morning, Surrey's quarter-final opponents in the Amy Rose National Junior Doubke Rink competition were Devon. Devon, featuring two Commonwealth Gold Medallists as their skips and having won the competition for the last three years were going to be tough opponents but after a fantastic match Surrey won on Rachel's rink by 20 - 19 and on the other rink by 21 - 15! Kent await in the morning!!

Aug 29, 2014 - A Game in Three Parts

This evening Luke took on Andrew Richardson from Southey, runner-up in the Surrey Secretaries' Singles in 2014, in the semi-final of the District Mixed Singles. With Andrew getting off to a flying start Luke found himself 2 - 12 down. Not being too perturbed he upped his game and got back to 11 - 14, before Andrew did the same to claim a place in the final with a 21 - 12 win.

Aug 29, 2014 - What an Afternoon!

Luke and Jonathan played the quarter-final of the District Men's Pairs this afternoon against last year's runners-up from Heathfield. After close early exchanges Luke and Jonathan settled well to the task in hand moving away from 4 - 4 after 4 ends to open up a lead. Continuing to draw well and picking up a five on the 18th end, their opponents shook hands with the score at 25 - 11. Wimbledon Park's second semi-final place in this event and ninth in all district competitions!

Up at Leamington, Rachel was playing two for the Surrey Under-31 team as they took on Cornwall for a place in the last 16 of the Amy Rose Inter-county competition. Playing in testy conditions, both in terms of a strong cross wind and rain, Surrey won on both rinks to record a 41 shots to 27 win securing their place against Durham in the morning.

Aug 28, 2014 - Top Ten Triumph - Through to the Final!

The semi-final of the District Top 10 Competition took place this evening between Wimbledon Park and Heathfield. The Singles was the first to finish with Neil recording a 21 - 12 victory. Second to finish were the Triples with Vernon, Brian W and Barry winning 13 ends to 5; conceding two fives in the last four ends saw the margin of their victory reduced to a single shot by 17 - 16. Third to finish were the Fours with Ossie, Sabrina, Pete and Martin winning 13 of the 21 ends with a 19 - 11 win. Luke and Jonathan found the going tough and were 2 - 11 down after 7 ends. Needing to keep the scores close they did just that losing 13 - 19. Match result a semi-final win for Wimbledon Park by 12 shots, 70 - 58.

The final will take place on Sunday 21st September, the venue is yet to be agreed. 

Aug 27, 2014 - Another Strong Performance in the Mid-week Triples

This afternoon Belmont visited Wimbledon Park in the Mid-week triples. Two close games ensued with Ossie, Vernon and Barry trailing 11 - 12 after 9 ends and Hector, Brian W and Neil leading 7 - 5 at the same point. The second half saw both Wimbledon Park triples drawing strongly with Barry's triple going on to win 27 - 18 and Neil's triple winning 18 - 11. Match result 8 - 0 (45 shots to 29).

Aug 26, 2014 - A Second Place in the District Finals

This evening Jonathan played John Dorrell (Magdalen Park), runner up in the Surrey Singles, in the semi-final of the District Champion  of Champions Competition. Despite the rain, Jonathan got off to a good start leading 9 - 6 after 10 ends, before a run of four ends took him to 18 - 6. Five ends later and Jonathan was into the final with a 21 - 11 win!

Elsewhere, Barry, Pauline (Mitcham) and Neil played the semi-final of the District Mixed Triples against Wandilea. Unfortunately the rain did not help their cause and after nine ends they trailed 2 - 16. The drier weather in the second half saw a change of fortunes with the Wimbledon Park bowlers out-scoring their opponents by 12 shots to 3. Sadly it proved too little too late as Wandilea advanced to the final with a 19 - 14 win.
