May 26, 2015 - 50 - 50 in Tonight's Triples

This evening's Surrey Triples saw Luke, Pete and Vernon (substituting for Martin) take on Merton Park. With the visitors starting well, Wimbledon Park soon found themselves playing catch up and despite a strong finish it proved to be too little too late with Wimbledon Park losing by 11 - 19.

Also playing at home, Barry, Jonathan and Neil hosted Heathfield in their triples; again a slow start saw the scores level after 7 ends at 4 - 4. For the remainder of the game however, Wimbledon Park took control, limiting their opponents to only two more shots whilst amassing 17 for themselves to win 21 - 6.

May 25, 2015 - Not the best start to the week!

This evening Neil played Belmont in the Surrey Champion of Champions. In a game where at times both bowlers found it difficult to control line and length, it was Neil's opponent who took control opening up a 17 - 7 lead. Neil rallied briefly to narrow the gap to 15 - 17, but in truth was fortunate to only lose by 17 - 21.

May 23, 2015 - 4th Taster Session Starts Super Saturday!

3 first time visitors, 1 returning for her third session and a total of 12 on the green - this morning's taster session started the day off well for Wimbledon Park BC. New photos added in the 'Coaching' Photo Gallery.

This afternoon's two woods competition continued in the same vein, with all rinks occupied for the afternoon and some fine bowling on display. At the end of the round robin group stage, Neil and Luke had made it through to the semi-final, with Helen just pipped by a single shot's difference on count-back. The other two semi-finalists to emerge were Vernon and Barry. The two semi-finals saw Vernon book his place in the final with a 10 - 7 win against Luke and after a tight tussle between Neil and Barry, Barry booked his place in the final having taken both shots on the final end to win 9 - 8. New photos added in the 'Two Woods' Photo Gallery.

May 22, 2015 - Double Success on Friday Evening

Neil visited Wandilea this evening in the National Champion of Champions competition. Playing on a tricky rink, the early exchanges were fairly even with the scores tied at 6 - 6 after 9 ends and 9 - 9, 3 ends later. Both bowlers drew tidily, but it was Neil who just edged ahead to record a 21 - 11 win.

Over at Gonville, Ralph, Pete, Jonathan and Barry played the opening round of the Surrey Top 4 competition. Once again the opening ends were close, with little between the two teams after 11 ends. It was Wimbledon Park who performed best in the second half however, to pull away and record a 22 - 14 victory.

In the National Family Pairs, Jonathan and Neil have progressed to the next round after their opponents conceded the game to them.

May 21, 2015 - Mid-week Triples - Off to a Winning Start

The season's first mid-week triples league match took place this afternoon away at Southey. After starting strongly, Ron, Ossie and Jonathan saw their opponents peg the score back, before going into the lead. Taking a four on the last end secured a well fought draw for Wimbledon Park. Betty, Vernon and Barry took longer to get going, but once they did, they edged ahead and held on for a 21 - 17 win. Match result 7 - 1 (41 shots to 37).

May 21, 2015 - Surrey Pairs - A Close Encounter

Barry and Neil travelled to Heathfield this evening for the first game in the Surrey Pairs. Following close exchanges, the scores were level at 6 - 6 after 10 ends, before a run of seven ends without reply saw Barry and Neil edge ahead. A count of 4 and, on the penultimate end, 5 against them brought things back to 17 - 15 at 20 ends, but two shots on the last end helped secure a tight 19 - 15 win.

May 20, 2015 - A Mixed Evening on the Green

The first of this week's Surrey Top 4 games took place at Heathfield this evening.Unfortunately for Luke, Derek, Vernon and Martin, their opponents were very much in-form and the game was conceded after 16 ends with Heathfield 20 - 3 ahead.

Elsewhere at the club night, we saw our 3rd new club member join Wimbledon Park since the beginning of May. Steven, (Ralph P's brother) joined this evening, following on from our first two new members Christine and Rosalind who had previously joined, following the enjoyment of their time visiting us in 2014.
