The second session was the inter-club Men's Pairs with Barry and Neil seeking to retain the title they won in 2013 and Luke and Jonathan seeking to be the youngest ever winners. At the end of a close contest, which was a credit to all involved, it was Barry and Neil who just held on to win 22 - 16 and so become the first pair ever to retain the title; Luke and Jonathan becoming the youngest ever runners-up! In the third session Jonathan finished as runner-up in the Champion of Champions to Dee (Wandilea), losing 8 - 21, Barry was runner-up in the Over 60s Men's Singles, losing to Jim (Merton Park) by 14 - 21 and Neil and Pauline (Mitcham) were runners-up in the Mixed Pairs to Chris (Colliers Wood) and John (South London), losing 13 - 28.

Sep 10, 2014 - Club Night Aggregate Competition Quarter-final

This evening's clubnight saw the playing of the quarter-final of the Aggregate Competition. The eight players who had attended most often in the season were drawn to play each other in a 12 end game of Fours, with each player changing position after 3 ends. What a game it turned out to be! The teams were, Brian W, Betty, Brian C and Anne B against Neil, Jonathan, Mary and Barry. With all bowlers contributing some telling bowls during the evening there was only one shot in it at the start of the last end. As that end was played out the team who were one shot adrift held shot until there were only two bowls left to be played. As the dust settled, the winning four, who will be drawn next week to play each other in pairs were, Neil, Jonathan, Mary and Barry having just won by 10 shots to 8.

Sep 5, 2014 - Six of the Best!

13 District Quarter-finals, 8 Semi-finals and this evening, after an exciting Men's Pairs semi-final, our 6th place in the Finals - what a great club to be a part of!

Barry and Neil played Wandilea this evening in the latest of the club's District semi-finals. After tight exchanges early on, and with the light fading fast, a 5 on the 12th end saw Wimbledon Park move into a 14 - 8 lead, only for Wandilea to respond by picking up 7 shots in the next four ends. Four of the last five ends were singles which, considering that they were bowled in almost total darkness, was quite amazing. The deciding end was end 19 when Barry and Neil picked up a count of four, enough to help them across the line with a 20 - 17 win and to book a place in the final where they will play Luke and Jonathan! A big thanks again to our supporters this evening, Jonathan, Brian W and Pete.
