Understrength Minors Beaten By Belnaleck

Minor League: Belnaleck 1-12 v 2-5 Belcoo
Belcoo Minors were without a number of players, including county panelist Daniel Ray as they lost out to in this local derby to neighbours Belnaleck by 4points on Sunday afternoon.
Nevertheless, the young O'Rahilly's put up a spirited effort in a competitive affair. Belnaleck held the advantage throughout and by the 20minute mark they held a 0-6 to 0-3 lead. Matthew McAloon accounting for all the visitors scores.
Before the interval Belcoo would draw level as Michael Maguire nipped through the home defence before firing to the net however Belnaleck registered their lead with two late points as they led 0-8 to 1-3.
The hosts were quickly out of the blocks in the second period and took a commanding lead with a goal and three points without reply. Belcoo however got things together and a converted penalty by Matthew McAloon along with two further points from the same player ensured the game would go down to the wire.
Belcoo missed some good opportunities to reduce the deficit further by in the end Belnaleck held on to secure the victory. For the O'Rahilly's Gary Doherty in goals was in excellent form and pulled off a number of great saves while theire were solid performances from the Furey brothers, John Scott and Jonathan Stewart in defence. Up front Matthew McAloon and Michael Maguire caused Bellanaleck several problems.
