Apr. 27, 2013
SENIOR LEAGUE: ROSLEA 3-13 v 0-6 BELCOO
Belcoo remain winless from three Senior League outings having shipped a heavy defeat in Roslea on Saturday evening, losing 3-13 to 0-6. The game was won by Roslea during the 15minute spell before the interval where the hosts ran in an answered 3-4.
League Table after 27/04/2013 Games:
It was actually Belcoo who made the more promising start over the opening part of the half as they controlled the majority of possession but struggled to pick out their inside forwards who were being well marshalled by the home defence.
Both sides shared six points with Seamus Quigley accounting for Roslea's three, two frees and a 45 while Ronan Ferguson and two Jonathan Feeley points left the game tied. This was as close as Belcoo got during the contest however as Roslea took command. Niall Leonard was forced to make a stunning last ditch block to deny an opening goal but it was only a sign of things to come.
Roslea gathered possession from a break ball and swarmed forward in numbers to register their first goal. Moments later centre half forward Kevin Cosgrove who would be heavily involved in all their good play before half time landed a good point before another Cosgrove attempt dropped onto the crossbar and rebounded to Liam Lynch to palm into the net for goal number two.
Quigley landed another free while Lynch clipped over from the right wing before a third goal arrived. Cosgrove won clean possession from a kick out before striding forward to fed his corner forward to bang in another goal past Aidan Leonard in the Belcoo goals. Sean Quigley made his return from injury before the interval and immediately arrowed over a point to leave Roslea 3-7 to 0-3 up at half time.
The second period was a subdued affair as the damage had been done and the end result almost a guaranteed home success. Belcoo to their credit put up a better showing over the course of the half but Roslea would win this period 0-6 to 0-3. The Quigley brothers registering two points a piece while Cosgrove and Martin Renfrew also added to their sides tally. John Carrigan landed a neat score early in the half while Ferguson and Feeley clipped over close range frees for the visitors.
