Seniors Slip Into Further Trouble In Tempo

  SENIOR LEAGUE: Tempo 1-13 v 0-12 Belcoo

Belcoo let two points slip from their grasp in Tempo on Saturday evening which keeps them in the relegation places at the foot of the Division 1 table. For 38minutes of this contest the O'Rahilly's were excellent, some slick forward movements coupled with solid defensive displays had the visitors in a commanding position leading 0-11 to 0-5. From here to the finish it was all Tempo though. Every break of the ball fell to the hosts who built up a head of steam and outscored their opponents 1-8 to 0-1 in the closing quarter to pick up the victory which keeps them in the race for the league Semi Finals.

The opening ten minutes seen Daryl Keenan register two close range frees before he slipped Niall McCuskter in for a left footed score. During this period Shain Gallagher had pointed from the right having gathered a Declan Leonard pass while Jonathan Feeley also knock one over for his side.

Belcoo would hit the next five scores, Paul McGrath providing the final pass for both Shane McCabe and Ronan Ferguson to score. Jonathan Feeley won a free on the right after good work by John Carrigan in midfield and he pointed the resulting kick while Declan Leonard and Feeley again has their side 0-7 to 0-3 ahead.

Tempo ended their drought when Thomas Dunne clipped over a point but Belcoo responded after a patience passage of play which seen Brian Cox join the attack and fire over a lef footed effort. Thomas Campbell would add a fifth Tempo point coming to half time but Ciaran Flaherty stroked a wonderful 45 with the last kick and the O'Rahilly's entered the break leading 0-9 to 0-5.

Upon the resumption Jonathan Feeley kicked a 14yards free before fielding a high ball and firing over to move his side six points up. The tide began to turn at this stage and the hosts would hit six in a row to level matters at 0-11 a piece.

Daryl Keenan registered a few frees while Ryan Bogue, Rory Foy and Aidan Breen all added scores. Belcoo would return to the lead as Shain Gallagher pointed from the right wing however Thomas Campbell and Rory Foy gave Tempo the lead for the first time since early in the contest at 0-13 to 0-12.

In the final moments the hosts netted the games only goal. Thomas Campbell broke a high ball into the square down for himself and as he and keeper James McGrath collided going for the loose it rolled up against the post for Ryan Bogue to walk in and kick over the line.

McGrath was forced off with a nasty ankle injury while Ciaran Flaherty also pulled up late on with a hamstring and Shane McCabe received his marching orders for a second yellow card offense as a promising opening 40minutes turned into a bad day at the office for the O'Rahilly's.
