Minors Knocked Out of Ulster Championship
Dec. 6, 2009
The Belcoo Minors fell at the first hurdle ion Sunday in Ulster Championship Quarter Final match against Derry Champions Dungiven on a score line of 0-17 to 0-6.
The final score doesn't really reflect the game as Dungiven rattled over 7 unanswered points in the closing 10 minutes but up to that stage Belcoo were still in the game. Belcoo played with a gael force wind in the first half but failed to make use of it and they trailed 0-6 to 0-3 at the break. Our points coming from a Jonathan Feeley free and a point each from play by Paul Duffy and Seimi Rafferty.
Belcoo showed a bit more fight in the second half and against the wind they played much better football than they had in the first half. With 10minutes remaining Philip Leonard fired over his 3rd point of the half to leave the scores at 0-9 to 0-6 but this was as close as Belcoo got, some excellent long range points from play by Dungiven's talented midfielder Sean Murray ensured the Derry side progressed into the Semi Final where the face the winners of next weeks game between Omagh and Armagh Harps.
