U12 Lose League Decider
Oct. 28, 2013
Maguiresbridge recorded a 3-9 to 1-6 victory to collect the Division 4 league title having seen off Belcoo with a powerful second half display.
In what was a slow start as both sides took time to settle and find their shooting boots it was Maguriesbridge who struck first as the initial quarter drew to a close. Darragh McPhilips with a low powerful shot across goal and into the bottom corner. Before the period had ended though Fiachra McAloon dusted himself down having been fouled to notch Belcoo’s sole score in Quarter 1.
During a tight second quarter scores became more frequent, Darragh McPhilips and Odhra McGolderick added early points for Maguiresbridge but Belcoo drew level midway through the period with a quickfire 1-1 from Dara Flanagan to tie the game up at 1-2 a piece.

From here to the final whistle Maguiresbridge took over though. Belcoo were continuing to work hard with Lawrence McKeown, Emmet McGuinness and Damien McElgunn to the fore for the O’Rahilly’s but it was the ‘Bridge who were chipping over points at a rapid rate in the lead up to half time. Tommy McGrory, Darragh McPhilips and Luca McCusker all splitting the post during a dominant spell.
In the third quarter the game got away from Belcoo as they failed to convert a number of good chance. The Maguiresbridge goalkeeper Oisin McPhilip was having an inspired afternoon and he made a good save from Oran McCann before a brave stop denied Dara Flanagan a certain goal.

At the other end, the eventual winners continued kicking points. The very impressive Erin McGrory, the sole girl on the starting team for Maguiresbridge, was simply superb throughout and would register a good point from play before creating scores for Tommy McGrory and Tomas Connolly.
By the end of the third quarter Maguiresbridge had moved eight clear and goals from the aforemention Erin McGrory and Tomas Connolly. Belcoo to there credit kept going in the final quarter and were rewarded with late points from Oran McCann (2), Damien McElgunn and the tricky Josh Killelea who done well after been introduced as a sub.
