Seniors Lose In Tempo

SENIORS: Tempo 0-12 v 0-7 Belcoo
Belcoo limped to a five point loss in Tempo on Saturday evening and the O’Rahilly’s despite showing some promise in recent weeks, have only won one of their last ten outings. Four draws and five defeats were sandwiched by a sole success over Teemore.
SENIOR DIVISION 1 LEAGUE TABLE
In this fixture Tempo were never behind, scores were hard to come, particularly in the first half as both sets of defences were on top. Just a half dozen points registered in the opening thirty minutes, the hosts holding a 0-4 to 0-2 interval lead.
By the midpoint it was three nil. Daryl Keenan on target from a placed ball while Niall McElroy and Ryan Bogue knocked over from play. Belcoo took there time to settle having coughed up possession on numerous occasion in the final third before Jonathan Feeley did register their first score following good work by Kieran Leonard.
Keenan would add another point from a placed ball some 40yards from goal while Belcoo ended the half with the final score. Ryan Leonard powering forward from corner back to drill over.
The second period seen two points within the first minute. Half time substitute Declan Campbell’s first bit of action was to split the posts from the right wing while at the other end Paul McGrath gathered a pass and swung over a left footed score.
Tempo would continue to dictate proceedings, holding possession for long periods and eventually eeking out a score. Niall McCusker hit a fine point while Damian Kelly and Keenan continue to find the target.
Belcoo remained toothless in attack but Ciaran Flaherty would fire over a good point with the outside of the boot before kicking a long distance free kick as his side trailed 0-8 to 0-5 with 10mins to play.
Tempo would kick on and two turnovers in the Belcoo defence yielded points for the hosts, Keenan again on target on both occasions. At the other end Jonathan Feeley tapped over a close range free and at the death a long ball into the area by Flaherty bounced over the bar as Tempo comfortably held out to win by 5points.
