U12s See Off Maguiresbridge Challenge

U12s: Belcoo 7-10 v 4-11 Maguiresbridge
Belcoo U12s finished their section with a third win from their four outings having seen off a late challenge from Maguiresbridge to record a 7-10 to 4-11 win.
Belcoo held the upperhand throughout this contest with good performances from all 15players used. An early Emmet McGuinness goal settled the hosts while Josh Killilea added a second moments later. Despite the concession of a goal and three points Belcoo registered a third goal, McGuinness the scorer again while Gerry Nolan added a good point to leave it 3-1 to 1-3 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter Maguiresbridge failed to score. Jamie Ray was forced into a good save but full backs Liam McAllister and Ciana McGrath were doing well as were Niamh McAloon and Conor McKeown in front of them. The defenders all winning their own battles.
Belcoo would add 2-2 in this period. Oisin O’Loughlin the creater on several occasion as his team-mates got on the scoreboard. Cian White was introduced during this quarter for his first outing of the season and he would register 1-1. Gerry Nolan would power in a goal while Emmet McGuinness again pointed for his side to leave it 5-3 to 1-3.
The third quarter seen the two sides share 10points. Lawrence McKeown, Cian White, Emmet McGuinness (2) and a Dara Flanagan free all on target for Belcoo while Mark Hughes, Odhran McGoldrick and Oisin May added scores for the visitors.
Into the final quarter and Belcoo led 5-8 to 1-8 but they would be outscored 3-3 to 2-2 in this period. Dara Flanagan fisted a goal after good work by Josh Killilea while Lawrence McKeown and Flanagan added points but Maguiresbridge had their best spell of the tie running in three goals, Odhran McGoldrick to the fore, rattling the net on two occasions but it would be Belcoo who has the final say on the break as Jack Greene got through on goal and drilling in a goal.
Training continues Thursday at 7pm. There will be football at the festival on Friday. Details will be released later in the week.
