Belcoo bossed the opening quarter but were wayward in front of goal. Josh Killilea and Gerry Nolan were heavily involved in creating chances for their team-mates but their sides finishing would let the young O’Rahilly’s down. Oran McCann however would rattle two good goals coming to the end of the quarter after good work by Lawrence McKeown and Dara Flanagan to give his side the advantage.

Devenish had registered a point from Fionan O’Brien during this period but the Belcoo defence was on top, restricting their opponents to just a few attempts at scores. Niamh McAloon and Conor McKeown were impressing in the half back line while Oisin O’Loughlin and Ciana McGrath were also getting the better of their players.

In quarter two Belcoo pressed on and would register 1-5 to Devenish’s 1-0. Jamie Ray would have an excellent hour in goals and was doing some great work coming from his nets to sweep up overhit through balls.

At the other end of the field Oran McCann’s powerfully driven shot found the net while he would add two good points in the period also. Josh Killilea continued to be a thorn in Devenish's side and he popped up with a neat point from the right wing. Lawrence McKeown got free down the right and raced towards goal before drilling over a point as did Dara Flanagan moments later to send Belcoo into a 3-5 to 1-1 half time lead.

In the second half Emmet McGuinness continued to curtail Fionan O’Brien influence on the tie and Belcoo remained in control. Josh Killilea would register a good point before McCann plundered his fourth goal having flicked the ball past the keeper before tapping into the net.

Into the last quarter and Belcoo had extended their advantage to 10points 4-6 (14) to 1-2 (4). Devenish would battle back in this quarter with two quick goals from Fionan O’Brien and Lanty Feeley. Now under a bit of pressure at the back Oisin O’Loughlin and Liam McAllister continued to stand firm. Dara Stewart would add a point from Devenish before Dara Flanagan split the posts with a good score for Belcoo.

Oran McCann and a fisted Lawrence McKeown point steadied Belcoo who seen out the final few minutes to pick up a 7point victory, 4-9 (17) to 3-4 (10).

Training continues on Thursday at 7pm for the U12s. The next league game is against St. Joseph’s in Belcoo on Sunday morning (14th September) at 11am.

In the other fixture Belcoo recorded a comfortable victory over their Devenish counterparts. All over the field the young O’Rahilly’s produced excellent displays. Patrick Martin impressed in his first day in goals while Sean Boylan and Ben McNulty were solid in the full back line.

Colum Higgins got forward well from wing back to register a few scores and the hard working pair of Jack Greene and Cian White bossed the middle sector. Up front Daniel O’Connor and Eimear Magee done well in what was a great win.
