No Contest In Brewster As Gaels Ease To Junior Win

Box Score

Apr. 10, 2015

JUNIORS: Enniskillen Gaels 3-16 v 2-5 Belcoo

This truly was an abysmal showing from Belcoo Juniors in Brewster Park as they failed to muster any sort of challenge against a youthful Enniskillen Gaels side. It took Belcoo the full 30minutes to register their first score and while they offered a little more in the second half the hosts had long since secured the victory.

At the interval Enniskillen held a 2-5 to 1-0 lead. Conor Watson accounting for the first 1-3 of the game, as he waltzed through the Belcoo defence to tap over handy points before firing in a great goal. Belcoo were the architects of their own down fall throughout, simple five yard passing going astray, aimless kick passes cut out and constantly turned over in the tackle. A night these players will quickly like to forget.

Midway through the half Sean McAleer would gather a pass from Paul Gunn and score another sublime goal finding the top corner while he added a point as the hosts took a double figured lead.

Belcoo failed to get things going forward, a hopefully Aaron Dolan shot for a point was fumbled by the Gaels goalkeeper allowed Gary Maguire to fist in the loose ball in first half stoppage time.

Despite a stern talking to at the interval, the Gaels hit four points in as many minutes upon the resumption. Paul Gunn rolling back the years as he cut infield past a number of lame tackles before fisting a point. This the pick of the scores. 2-9 to 1-0 the home  side now led.

Aaron Dolan would raise the white flag for the first time some 38minutes into the game but McAleer would knock two more over at the other end to make it a 12point game. During the next 10minutes Belcoo outscored the Gaels 1-2 to 0-2. Jack O’Dolan seeing a goalbound effort tipped over for a point while Shain Gallagher drove forward to register a point before setting up Ian Corrigan for a goal.

Over the final ten minutes the hosts clipped over more points while McAleer netted what was goal of the night, a sensational effort from the right wing, 20yards from goal, thumped into the far top corner.

For Belcoo it’s hard to draw a positive from the encounter as they slip to a second defeat in two outings. They return to action next week with a Saturday fixture at home to St. Joseph’s Ederney.
