Senior Lose In Maguiresbridge

Box Score

Apr. 25, 2015

SENIOR LEAGUE DIVISION 1: Maguiresbridge 0-11 v 2-4 Belcoo

Belcoo seniors seen their unbeaten start to the league come undone against a lively Maguiresbridge side, the newly promoted outfit tireless work ethic helping them eek out a one point win.

In truth Belcoo were well below par as they failed to get going at any stage in the tie. An early point from Paul McGrath and penalty by Jonathan Feeley after a foot block on Matthew McAloon by Maguiresbridge goalkeeper Colum Rice have hoisted Belcoo into a four point advantage but the hosts would register five in a row. A pair of frees from Sean Corrigan and Matthew Teague was accompanied by Ciaran Corrigan point from play before Jonathan Feeley slotted over a right wing free to level matters.

In the closing moments of the half a Feeley free and Ryan Hyde point left it 0-6 to 1-3 at the interval.

In the second half Belcoo struggled in all sectors as Maguriesbridge continues to hold the upper hand. Sean Corrigan pointed a free while Feeley levelled matters again before a fortunate goal from substitute Aaron Dolan gave Belcoo something to hold onto, his long range effort for a point was dropped by keeper Rice into the net behind him. 2-4 to 0-7.

Maguiresbridge persisted with their play and over the final 15minutes they would add four more points to secure victory. Ciaran Corrigan hitting two from play, the roving forward, easily the most influential player on the field at the heart of all his sides best work.

Matthew Teague had added a free before 20metre free from Sean Corrigan straight in front of goal won the game for the home team.
