One Sided U16 Opener
Jul. 16, 2015
U16s: Belcoo 17-20 v 0-1 Coa
Belcoo got their Under 16 campaign off to a winning start with a strong scoring display and especially strong performances from some of their young under 14 players.
Playing against the breeze in the first half, Fiachra Mc Aloon got Belcoo off the mark after 2minutes with a well-taken point, followed by a goal and 2 points by Shane Doherty. Coa then scored what proved to be their solitary point of the match.
Two more points followed from Conor McAloon before Fiachra McAloon got the first of his 2 goals following a great team move with three slick passes from their own square. Gerard McHugh came up from half back to score a goal followed by points from Shane Doherty, Colm Furey and Conor McAloon with Shane bagging another goal before half-time. HT score 4-14 to 0-01.
In the second half Belcoo continued to lay seige on the Coa goal and they would produce a feast of goals as the visitors wilted under the constant pressure. Shane Doherty, Conor McAloon, Colm Furey, Gerard McHugh, Michael McGourty, Fiachra McAloon and Eoin Shiels all finding the net.
Apart from the scorers, Lawrence McKeown, Matthew Mulvey and Ronan Maguire were excellent in a defence well marshalled by James McAloon whilst Mark Ferguson in the half forward line gave a great display of tackling.
