Roslea Ease To Senior Victory Over Belcoo
Apr. 24, 2016
Senior League Division 1: Roslea 4-14 v 1-7 Belcoo
Belcoo Seniors shipped a heavy defeat in Roslea this afternoon as they went down 4-14 to 1-7 in a game they never got to grips with. Roslea had raced into a 1-5 to no score lead by the midway stage of the opening half. Seamus Quigley would gather a trademark, long diagonal kickpass before firing past James McGrath inside three minutes. Sean Quigley was deadly accurate from the ground throughout the tie and he had struck over three wonderful efforts from distance before arrowing over an excellent score with the outside of the boot. Daniel Mohan would land a tidy effort from the left side before Belcoo registered.
A long ball by Jonathan Feeley from the left bounced over the crossbar before a well worked move seen Matthew McAloon cut in from the wing to fire into the net. Jonathan Feeley knocked over a point in what was Belcoo’s best spell of the entire contest as they got within three points at 1-5 to 1-2.
Roslea though were racing forward at will and continued to clip over scores as they drew fouls which Sean Quigley clipped over. Ciaran Flaherty did register a point at the other end but on the blow of half time another long ball broke kindly for Shane Lynch to finish to the net leading it 2-9 to 1-3 at the interval.
Belcoo scored four sporadic points during the second period, Aaron Dolan, Jonathan Feeley (2) and Gavin Leonard while Roslea continued to hold the upper hand, adding 2-5 to run out handsome winners. Shane Lynch registered the third goal from close range after good work from Seamus Quigley and Conor Mulligan in the build up. Liam Lynch returned to the Roslea fold and create the fourth goal for his side while the Quigley brothers accounted for the points.
It’s a disappointing start to Belcoo who prop up the Division after a three straight defeat. They travel to Devenish on Friday evening looking to kickstart their campaign.
