Under 10s Lose Out In Tempo
Jun. 8, 2016
U10 League: Tempo 3-17 (37) v 1-8 (17) Belcoo
Belcoo’s last match in their section of the Derrygonnelly U10’s Tournament was played last night against Tempo in a good spirited affair. The young O Rahilly’s needed a win or a draw to see them through to the final of the competition. Unfortunately this was not to be, the weight of the task was just too much for them on the night and they wilted under pressure to a much stronger Tempo outfit.
Belcoo opened the scoring with a fine point from Eoin Corrigan in the first minute. Tempo responded immediately with a well worked goal and pinned Belcoo in their own half for the next seven minutes scoring another goal and three points in the process, with a flurry of wides thrown for good measure.
Another Eoin Corrigan point in the eighth minute lifted the siege briefly followed by five in return from the home side. Belcoo’s back line were having to work overtime to repel the stronger Tempo attack, which saw good performances from Sam Martin, Scarlett O’Connor and Siofra McAloon.

Riona Keaney was introduced to replace the injured Siofra McAloon towards the end of the first half. Two good blocks from Michael Burns saw him come more into the game and he added two points to his tally nearing the end of the first half. Tempo responded with two of their own leaving the half time score 0-5 to 3-11 in Tempo’s favour.
The second half saw the young O’Rahillys working hard as a team to defend against the much stronger Tempo side. Patrick Magee especially, putting his body on the line to protect the goal. Rachel Nolan, Nathan McGovern, Thomas Parker, Eve Barrett and Riona Keaney all had to retreat into defensive duty in an effort to get the ball upfield.

Belcoo were to score a total of 1-3 this half, all from the boot of Eoin Corrigan, Tempo would register 6 points and had a penalty saved by Nathan Carroll Magee in goals for Belcoo.
The two sides will meet again to decide who goes through to the final on Saturday week. The Playoff game has still to be arranged, a date, time & venue will be posted when known. MOre pics of last nights game in the Photo Gallery on the left.
