Seniors Secure Comfortable Win In Tempo
Jun. 26, 2016
Senior League Division 1: Tempo 0-7 v 2-14 Belcoo
The Seniors were up bright and early this morning for a 10.30am throw in at Tempo but it was a worthwhile journey as they picked up a 2-14 to 0-7 victory.
From the outset the O'Rahilly's were on top and a slick opening move seen Ian Corrigan win the ball in front of goal before turning and popping it over the bar. Aaron Dolan followed up with a close range free before a collectors item from James Stewart, not just a point, but a point off the rarely used left foot.

Belcoo were moving the ball well with options aplenty for the player on the ball, they continued to press forward, corner back Gavin Leonard raced some 70yards up the field to point while Matthew McAloon converted and free and registered from play for a six point lead.
Two goal chances were squandered as Gavin Leonard and Matthew McAloon fired narrowly wide of the right post while Tempo eventually got something going forward as they knocked over two points.
Belcoo would respond with Paul McGrath pointing from inside the 40 after a neat one two with Matthew McAloon and Christopher Leonard powered through the middle before offloading to Aaron Dolan on the loop to score from the right side giving Belcoo a 0-8 to 0-2 interval lead.

A goal within the first few minutes of the second half effectively sealed the points. Goalkeeper Matthew Jackson was blocked down trying to clear the ball by Ian Corrigan, the ball struck the bar and fell for the onrushing Dean McDermott to volley in from a yard or two.
Belcoo continued on the front foot and Aaron Dolan was next to register although Tempo would record three unanswered points in their brightest spell of the contest.
Back came Belcoo and Paul McGrath would hit the next four points of the game. Cutting through the hosts for a handy first point after a one two with Niall Leonard then landing a great long range effort after surging run forward by Gavin Leonard.
It was all too easy for the O'Rahilly's half forward as he raced in to fist over the next score before stroking over a 45 to push his side 1-13 to 0-5 ahead.
Tempo had two goal chances but a great first save by James McGrath from Niall McCusker kept the ball out while the host side also struck the butt of the post. The next goal was to be for Belcoo as they worked the ball from back to front at great pace, Stephen Nolan, Paul McGrath and Gavin Leonard all involved before the latter slipped the ball to Matthew McAloon to rifle into the net.

Ryan Bogue and Rory Foy added late points for the home side but Belcoo would finish with a point from Jonathan Feeley following a few exchange of passes with Paul McGrath.
The O'Rahilly's were full value for the 13point success. Defensively solid throughout with Declan Leonard impressing in the full back line, Barry McGovern and Christopher Leonard put in big performances in the middle with Paul McGrath an outlet throughout in the forward line.
James McGrath, Gavin Leonard (0-1), Declan Leonard, Ryan Leonard, Ryan McGovern, Niall Leonard, Stephen Nolan, Barry McGovern, Christopher Leonard, James Stewart (0-1), Paul McGrath (0-5), Dean McDermott (1-0), Aaron Dolan (0-3), Ian Corrigan (0-1), Matthew McAloon (1-2).
