One Sided Second Half Gives Devenish Victory
Jul. 24, 2016
SENIORS: Belcoo 1-5 v 1-15 Devenish
Having trailed by one at half time, Devenish were to run riot in the second half as they kept Belcoo scoreless to secure a comfortable win. The O'Rahilly's would finish with 13 players to cap a miserable afternoon for the hosts who have now shipped back to back 10point defeats in the league as they slip to third bottom.
In the opening half Belcoo had begun well, Declan Leonard and Paul McGrath combined to set Shain Gallagher up for the opening score before McGrath's pass into Jonathan Feeley seen the attacker land a second score.

Devenish had hit back via Darren Brady but Belcoo would register their goal on 10minutes. Paul McGrath carried the ball from inside his own half before forcing a save from Thomas Treacy, Aaron Dolan dispatched the rebound into the roof of the net from close range.
Devenish though, got themselves back into the game and levelled matters via four John O'Flanagan points, three of which were well struck free kicks. Belcoo would however hit two more points, McGrath winning a break ball before finding Philip Leonard, his raking crossfield ball was picked up by Feeley who offloaded to the onrushing Shain Gallagher to point; it was a fine move, but it was about the only one mustered in the game from the home side. Barry McGovern broke forward and slipped Aaron Dolan in for a well taken point on the right wing but Devenish again rallied, Chris O'Brien and Terry O'Flanagan with two good scores from play to tie matters once more.

The half would end with the hosts one to the good, Philip Leonard pointing a free from an acute wide on the right. 1-5 to 0-7.
From the throw up, Devenish attacked and for a solid 20minutes, Belcoo failed to turn the ball from kickouts and get up the field. The forward line was made redundant while the defence was over worked as Devenish upped the ante. More physical in the tackle, Belcoo coughed up the ball time after time while primary possession was rarely secured from restarts by the home side.

Devenish simply popped over points at will, Barry Mulrone, Jason Love, John O'Flanagan and Martin Doherty all got in on the act as they pulled away from a wilting Belcoo challenge.
With the game going away from them, Chris Leonard picked up a second yellow while Shain Gallagher saw red which allowed Devenish to ease to the finish.
With overlapping runners a plenty they tagged on a few more points before substitute John McNulty rattled the net in the final minute to a 1-15 to 1-5 win.
