Reserves Undone By Late Erne Gaels Rally
Apr. 8, 2017
RESERVES: Belcoo 0-12 v 1-11 Erne Gaels
Belcoo Reserves were undone by late late rally from Erne Gaels at MacNean Park this evening as the visitors hit 1-4 in three minutes at the end of the game to win by two points, on a 1-11 to 0-12 scoreline.
Post game huddle
After a low key first half Belcoo had pushed themselves four clear following a string of well worked scores and looked certain for the victory but having gone 20mins without a score Erne Gaels woke from their slumber to rattle a game winning surge.
Looking back, Belcoo will rue two glorious goals chances in the opening 10minutes of the contest as Ian Corrigan and Ronan Meehan will both feel they should have netted.
Corrigan was to stroke over a 45 to open the Belcoo account some ten minutes into the tie. Luke Ryder had two on the board for Erne Gaels by this stage and by the interval it was 0-5 to 0-4 to the Belleek men. Belcoo's scores coming from Niall Cullen, Ronan Meehan and Gary Maguire.

The second half was a much livelier affair and having went two down Belcoo took over. Defensively they tightened, the excellent Martin Corrigan making several turnovers with James Gillespie and Brendan McPartland pressing forward as they penned Belleek back for a good 15minutes spell.
The points began to flow, Gary Maguire hit three in a row, his last under pressure from the right wing after Dean McDermott had done well.
Ronan Meehan was next to arrow over a fine point from the right wing while James Gillespie moved forward to slot over a great left footed effort after patient build up.

Erne Gaels did respond but Belcoo were 0-9 to 0-7 to the good with 15minutes to play and going really well. Aidan McGrath, Niall Cullen, Ian Corrigan and Michael McGourty were all involved in a slick exchange which seen Meehan point again from the right.
There was some great pressure and blocks in the defence as Belcoo had complete control of the game. Ian Corrigan slotted over for a four point lead, 0-11 to 0-7.
Things took a turn for the worst with 57mins on the clock, Erne Gaels rattled off three points in 90seconds before they found the net and clipped over another to effectively steal the game from under the noses of the O'Rahilly's. Gary Maguire tapped over a close range free in added time for a 1-11 to 0-12 defeat in the end.
