Reserves Keep Winning Run Going
May. 12, 2017
ERNE CUP DIVISION 2: Belcoo 2-14 v 2-8 Ederney
Belcoo Reserves made it two wins in three days as they ran out winners on a 2-14 to 2-8 scoreline over Ederney this evening at MacNean Park. It's now four wins on the spin for the O'Rahilly's who made hard work of it at times this evening, having held the vast majority of possession throughout, they struggled to convert a host of great scoring chances during the hour.

Dean McDermott was to register an early 1-1 to set the O'Rahilly's on their way while Gary Maguire knocked over a free kick. Ederney though were to clip over two points of their own by the midway stage in the half.
Eoin Shiels raced away down the right to land two well taken points from play with Niall Cullen thumping over a fine long range effort.
Aidan McGrath deputising in goals made a wonderful save to tip a shot onto the bar, Ederney did point the rebound and two close range frees before a mistake by McGrath gifted the visitors a goal to leave it level 1-5 a piece at the interval.
Midfield Minefield - Ian Corrigan is sent flying
Belcoo were to hold the upperhand in the second half. Jonathan Feeley and Matthew McAloon registering early points, the latter after a surging run down the left by Shiels.
Gary Maguire notched from close range before a simple back to front move seen another score registered. Aidan McGrath's kickout was marked by Ian Corrigan who found Matthew on the right side, McAloon powering past his man for an easy point before he hit another via the post while Ederney mustered two in response.
The Ederney defence went walkabouts for 10minutes and Belcoo were starting to create great goal chances. These chances though weren't taken. Jonathan Feeley stroked two fine 45's between a Brendan McPartland point while Matthew McAloon finished the scoring for the home side on 56minutes.
Ederney were to land a late 1-1 but Belcoo had plenty to spare as they picked up a six point success. Defensively Shane McAloon had a fine hour with Dean McDermott working hard at wing back. Gerard Mellor got through his usual workmanlike performance before a hamstring injury late on curtailed his involvement while Eoin Shiels proved a great outlet from start to finish.
