U14 Girls Division 2: Belnaleck 7-7 v 1-9 Belcoo
Belnaleck joined Belcoo in the Division 2 League final this evening by beating the O'Rahilly's 7-7 to 1-9 at the Lakeland Forum. A strong showing by the home side from start to finish paved the way to their success although Belcoo were well in the game up until half time.

Goals win games is the saying and Belnaleck were on the hunt for goals from the first whistle. Mikayla Maguire making two good saves early doors but Farrah McCloskey did net on 4 minutes, a big ball bouncing over the Belcoo net minder. Aine McBrien had already registered a point before Aoife Keaney knocked over a free kick to get Belcoo on the scoreboard.
Eimear Magee had a great game as captain this evening at wing back, cutting out several balls down her side in the first half in particular. It was from a good bit of play by Magee and a determined Sam Martin that seen Belcoo work their only goal. Eve Barrett showing a great pair of hands and a clean pair of heels to her marker as she tore in and found the top left hand corner with a mighty strike. 1-1 to 1-1 on 8mins.
Belnaleck were to hit a second goal, McBrien the scorer from close range but Belcoo tied proceedings again as they ran in three points in as many minutes.
A lung bursting run from Sinead Barrett seen her pick off a fine point from distance. Aoife Keaney was next to drive through to point while Eve Barrett gathered an Aine Barrett free kick before turning and firing over. 2-1 to 1-4.

The half was to end in similar fashion, McBrien plundering another goal, Sinead Barrett popping over another point while McBrien did clip a point at the death to see her side 5-2 to 1-7 ahead.
Belnaleck were to control the second period, an early point from Claire Hyde when she was unmarked from a short free kick started the scoring. Shanna Cassidy followed up with another while two more points were clipped over as the lead extended to ten points.

Well taken goals were then added by Cassidy and McBrien with Belcoo making little headway upfield. Sinead Barrett battled and foraged gamely throughout for ball while Ciara Nolan, Eimear Magee and Rhianne McGuinness turned over some ball at the back in the second half.
It was a tough outing for the Belcoo girls who went 16minutes without a score before Eve Barrett weaved in to point and Aine Barrett followed up with what was the last score of the contest.
