The Reserves booked a place in the Championship Semi Final with a 2-11 to 1-7 win over Derrygonnelly this evening in Kinawley. Having put themselves in a commanding position at the interval they struggled for long periods of the second half as the Harps battled their way back into the tie but a late rally seen them advance to the next round.
Brian Cox under a bit of pressure during this evenings victory
Things went well for the O'Rahilly's in the first 30minutes as they led 1-7 to 0-1 at the break. James McGourty opening the scoring having got on the end of a patient bit of play to angle over from the right wing. Brian Cox, who was at the hub of all his sides best work in the middle of the park, worked a one two to clip over another good point before Niall Cullen and Seimi Rafferty combined on the left to create a goal for Gary Maguire who fired to the net. 1-2 to no score 13minutes in.
Rafferty was heavily involved for Belcoo before being forced off coming to half time with a hamstring injury. He was to feed Niall Cullen for two well taken scores while a great move should have seen Gary Maguire net a second goal but the Harps ‘keeper was off his line to capitalise on some hesitancy from the forward.
Seimi Rafferty was on the ball plenty before going off injured
Derrygonnelly broke downfield and created a goal chance of their own but the attacker fired straight at Gary Doherty. Ruairi Fee would open the Harps account with a fine point from play on 24minutes but Belcoo finished the half with three more.
Gary Maguire with the first after Brian Cox had sprayed a racking crossfield ball into James Gillespie who gathered and slipped to Maguire. Ian Corrigan provided the assist for Maguire's next point while Brendan McPartland broke from defence to play a few one twos with Brian Cox before Cox drilled over. 1-7 to 0-1 at the break.
