U12s Sections Finish In Tempo
Aug. 30, 2017
U12 Section B: Tempo 4-26 (34) v 3-10 (16) Belcoo
Our Under 12's completed their Sectional Programme in Tempo on Tuesday evening, the home side, who will operate in Division 1, recorded a handsome 4-26 (34) to 3-10 (16) win over Belcoo who will ply their trade in Division 2, which commences this coming Saturday in Derrylin.
Last night, St Patrick’s Park proved not to be a happy hunting ground for the U12’s as they came up against stiff opposition in Tempo. The visitors were slow to settle into the game with the stronger home side. Lorcan Leonard had a busy first half in goal, with Cara Gray and Siofra McAloon in the back line working to fend off repeated attacks.
Tempo registered two early points and Eoin Corrigan got the first point for Belcoo but this was followed by a display of scoring from Tempo clocking up 1-11 before Corrigan put the ball over the bar for the second time. Rhys Ray did well when introduced, showing for kickouts and making plenty of runs for the ball. Sinead Barrett registered a third point for Belcoo leaving the half time score 0-3 to a daunting 1-14.
There was a shuffle at half time with Nathan Carroll-Magee now in goals and Lorcan Leonard moved to the forward line. An improved performance from the O’Rahilly’s which involved simpler, more effective passages of play. The home side again opened the scoring with a point which was answered by two from Michael Burns. Tempo continued their attack winning possession and carrying the ball forward to score repeatedly. Lorcan Leonard had a good spell in an unfamiliar position managing to register two points and after receiving a long ball had an excellent finish to find the back of the net.
This was followed by a further points by Eoin Corrigan, Michael Burns and Sinead Barrett. A further re-shuffle saw Aodhan Cullen introduced in goals with Nathan Carroll -Magee brought up front. He too did well, positioning himself in front of his marker, getting the clean catch and finishing well with the visitors second and third goals.
Despite the defeat, there were plenty of lessons learned as the team goes forward to compete in Division 2 of the league, our first game away to Derrylin this Saturday 2nd September.
