Minors Progress to Quarter Finals
Jun. 8, 2010
The Belcoo Minors have progressed into the Quarter Final of this years Minor Championship following a 5-11 to 1-12 victory over Irvinestown on Monday evening.
After a difficult league campaign in which Belcoo failed to win a game, they produced a good team performance to overcome Irvinestown and advance into the Quarter Final where they face St. Pat's. Jonathan Feeley who had missed the majority of the league was in scoring form while Jamie Melanophy managed to get two goals. Stephen Nolan worked tirelessly throughout in midfield and as ever Paddy Sweeney was solid in goals.
Unfortunately Philip Leonard sustained a bad injury and he was taken away in an ambulance, hopefully it is nothing too serious and he is fit for the next round. Barry McGovern is also struggling to be fit having missed out the last few matches following an ankle injury picked up in a Junior match last month.
Belcoo have won this competition for the past two seasons and a third title in three years is not out of the question provided some key players are fit and available for remainder of this knockout competition.
