Poor Showing As U15s Well Beaten
Mar. 31, 2018
U15 Division 2: Aughadrumsee 6-6 v 2-8 Belcoo
A desperately poor display from our Under 15s seen them suffer a ten point defeat in Aughadrumsee on a 6-6 to 2-8 scoreline. Overall the lack of drive, effort and correct attitude from the outset meant it was going to be a long hour. Less than a handful of the sky blues produced the level they can, far too many, failed to show up.
The opening minute proved a false dawn. Patrick Martin making a block to deny Aughadrumsee a score before Belcoo worked the ball through the hands of Oisin O’Loughlin and Emmett McGuinness for Gerry Nolan drilled over the games first score.

Aughadrumsee’s Enda McCabe proved hard to handle, he’d finish with 4-4 on a personal note. His first goal coming on 6minutes running through to score. A good block by Gerry Nolan prevented another moments later while Belcoo squandered several opportunities with silly final passes, basic errors and some wayward shooting.
The O’Rahilly’s then gifted McCabe two more goals, turnovers 45yards from their own goals allowed the hosts to transfer the ball into their main man for three pointers. Jamie Ray was to deny him two more goals during the half.
Colum Higgins, playing his first game in close to a year after Irish Dancing commitments, was the bright light in the opening half, making turnovers, attacking the ball and using it well coming forward. His next interception on 14minutes seen his side register their second score. Oisin O’Loughlin again drove forward having gathered a pass from Higgins before slipping Josh Killilea in for point.
Enda McCabe responded but Belcoo finished the half with two points, Gerry Nolan and Josh Killilea the scorers while O’Loughlin struck the post going for goal after Ben McNulty had advanced upfield with possession. Half time 3-2 v 0-4.

Christopher Flanagan added a fourth Aughadrumsee goal within two minutes of the restart for a ten point cushion. Eoin Corrigan, who showed well and was an outlet throughout, hit a point. It was woeful stuff for 15 more minutes, walking pace in most areas, the effort and end product very poor.
Aughadrumsee cracked in another goal from Enda McCabe with 47minutes on the clock, 5-3 to 0-5 the score. Belcoo would finish the game with a flurry but it was just consolation scores. Oisin O’Loughlin bagged two goals with Josh Killilea slotting a point before a one legged Michael Burns struggling big time with an injury came off the bench to register two left footed scores.
Aughadrumsee mustered a goal and a few points to finish the game with a deserved victory. Belcoo must lift themselves for a trip to Irvinestown on Wednesday evening. Bus leaving 5.20pm.
