Senior Men Record First Win Of The Season.

SENIOR LEAGUE DIVISION 2: Brookeboro 0-10 v 2-12 Belcoo

The Senior Men picked up their first points of the season with an away win in Brookeboro on Sunday afternoon when they recorded a 2-12 to 0-10 win.

There was a strong swirling wind favouring the home side in the first half, they only mustered five points while Belcoo had managed three into the breeze. Paul McGrath registering off the right and left feet while Dean McDermott had clipped over the other.

Belcoo remained behind for ten minutes in the second half but pulled level on 40minutes at 0-7 each. Jonathan Feeley accounting for all four of his sides points, two frees and two from either wing from play.

Brookeboro edged ahead again but Belcoo hit two goals in quick succession, Brian Cox the markmans on both occasions. Paul McGrath intercepted kickout and ran through on goal, feed Feeley who’s effort was blocked, it looping up in the air before being fisted to the net by Cox. Michael McGourty then played Cox in down the right wing as Belcoo turned over an attacked, Cox gathered possession some 45yards from goal, the midfielder raced clear of his man, made a be-line for the goals and duly dispatched a thumping effort into the roof of the net. 2-7 to 0-8.

Over the closing 10minutes Belcoo were to outscore the hosts five to two. Conor McAloon and Brian Cox registering two each from play before Jonathan Feeley tagged on the last point from play.

Belcoo have a double header next weekend. They are on the road both days, in Teemore on Friday for a 7pm throw in and then on Sunday in Maguiresbridge for a 1pm throw in.
