U15s Boys Beat Aughadrumsee

Box Score

May. 3, 2018

U15 Division 2: Belcoo 4-11 v 0-12 Aughadrumsee

The Under 15’s seen off Aughadrumsee in a low key affair at MacNean Park this evening, 4-11 to 0-12. The contest took a long time to produce any real quality, a poor first 20minutes seen the just three points a piece registered, Belcoo though had dropped seven balls into the keepers arms.

Ben McNulty, Josh Killilea and Emmett McGuinness were the men on their game from minute one for the O’Rahilly’s, the three of them having fine hours. McGuinness raising the first white flag for his side on 7minutes to half the deficit following two Enda McCabe frees which were given for Belcoo players having picked the ball off the ground.

Belcoo’s second score was well worked, Jamie Ray began it from goals, a one-two with Conor McKeown seen Ray pick out Eoin Corrigan on the left, he transferred the ball to Michael Burns and an excellent crossfield pass found Emmett McGuinness for a neat score. Patrick Martin drilled over a point moments later it was tied up at 3 all.

Belcoo eventually began to do the right thing in possession and use the space much better. Patient play yielded a third McGuinness point, Josh Killilea the provider of the assist. Killilea was now dictating the game in the middle third, spraying good pass with Conor McKeown and Sean Boylan using the ball simply to keep Belcoo on the attack. A lovely move and superb goal finish by Michael Burns was quickly followed by an equally good finish from Eoin Corrigan and Belcoo were 2-4 to 0-3 up. Enda McCabe and Emmett McGuinness traded points before Dara Flanagan was black carded, Belcoo sole sub Nathan McGovern entered the fray. Enda McCabe would shot the final score of the half for a 2-5 to 0-5 game.

Enda McCabe slotted over two early frees in the second half but with the game beginning to open up and very little marking by either side, Belcoo would make better use of their opportunities in this half and as they began to find the target.

Michael Burns and Eoin Corrigan would point before Belcoo netted a third goal. Gerry Nolan robbing an Aughadrumsee attacker, Josh Killilea pinged a fine ball to Patrick Magee on the right side, he fed the on rushing Patrick Martin who drilled the ball to the net.

The visitors rattled two more points, one via a smart save from Jamie Ray for 3-7 to 0-9 with 15minutes to play. Belcoo though we’re getting even more space, Jack Greene got plenty of possession, while Eoin Corrigan and Michael Burns showed well.

Ben McNulty continued to turn some great ball at the back and played some good passes out of the defence with Emmett McGuinness curtailing Enda McCabe well in open play. Josh Killilea maintained his high quality of passing to commence attacks as Gerry Nolan drove upfield for a fine point.

Belcoo fourth goal arrived on 47minutes, Nathan McGovern having seen a shot saved a few minutes earlier, was on hand to poke a ball to the net from close range. Eoin Corrigan and Patrick Martin followed up with points although Aughadrumsee managed three at the other end before the last score of the evening came via Jack Greene.
