Seniors: Lisnaskea 0-12 Belcoo 0-8
Jun. 25, 2010
Belcoo suffered their first league defeat of the season on Friday evening away to Lisnaskea. The home side were good value for their four point victory as they were on top in most sectors of the field. This was a disappointing result for Belcoo who failed to sparkle like they had done in previous games and in truth they never got themselves into the position where they could make it 8 wins from 8 games.
Lisnaskea started the brighter and found themselves 0-3 to 0-1 ahead after the opening quarter. Shane Ingram, Daniel Kille and Brian Og Maguire were among the points for 'Skea with Kieran Leonard firing over Belcoo's sole response. A close range free from Daniel Kille was followed by a Kille point from play after he played a quick one two with a collegue.
At this stage the previous unbeaten Belcoo found themselves 0-5 to 0-1 behind as the game approached half time. Ronan Ferguson kicked a close range free before Paul McGrath caught a Eoin Leonard pass and quickly fired over. Belcoo almost got a goal in this period, a John Carrigan free dropped in around the square and Ronan Ferguson's fisted effort crashed of the crossbar and into the arms of a grateful Lisnaskea defender.
Another close range Daniel Kille free kick left the score Lisnaskea 0-6 Belcoo 0-3 at the interval.
Belcoo opened the scoring in the second half, Gavin Leonard bust through three tackles and fired over from 25yards. Lisnakea responed with scores of their own as the continued to win the majority of possession around the middle third. Niall McElroy and Stephen Carters kicked excellent scores with two close range Ronan Ferguson points keeping the Belcoo challenge alive.
Jonathan Feeley was introduced by Belcoo and he was quick to get on the scoreboard, two points from play allowed Belcoo to get within 2points of the home side but late scores from Carters and Aidy Little ensured Lisnaskea inflicted the first defeat on Belcoo this season.
