SENIORS: Belcoo 2-7 Derrygonnelly 0-9

Belcoo came from four points down in the second period to record a four point victory in this last round of league games played on a beautiful day in MacNean Park. Having trailed 0-8 to 0-4 early in the second half, a hardworking closing 20minutes seen Belcoo register 2-3 with Derrygonnelly only managing one point in reply.
The opening quarter of the game was just shaded by Belcoo who had begun the brighter. Shane McCabe opened the scoring within a minute from a long range left footed effort. Gavin Leonard tapped over from close range while Ronan Ferguson done the same. For Derrygonnelly two Barry McGrath free kicks kept the minimum between them.
It was Derrygonnelly who finished the half the stronger, Kevin Cassidy pointed from an acute angle while Daniel Ward and Ryan Jones also got on the scoresheet. Barry McGrath added another free kick and Jones finished a well worked move with a good score. In this period of Derrygonnelly dominance, Shane McCabe registered Belcoo sole response. Half Time Belcoo 0-4 Derrygonnelly 0-7.
The first chance of the second half went to Belcoo substitute Jonathan Feeley. Gavin Leonard worked his way along the end-line and squared the ball to Feeley who's fisted effort was well saved by Derrygonnelly's Dermott Feeley in goals.
Stephen Jones increased Derrygonnelly's lead to four but from this point Belcoo upped their game and finished very strong. McCabe was again on target from Belcoo before they struck their first goal. A good move down the left wing involving Paul McGrath and Jonathan Feeley seen the later put the ball into the square where Ciarán Flaherty was on hand to dispatch the ball into the roof of the net from close range.
The talismanic figure of Stephen Maguire fired over a great score to put Belcoo into a 1-6 to 0-8 lead but Barry McGrath levelled the game with 3minutes remaining from another free kick. In the closing moments Belcoo produced one of their best moves of the season as they worked the ball the length of the field and a quick interchange of passes between Declan and Kieran Leonard seen Shane McCabe bear down on goal and McCabe made no mistake firing low into the corner beyond a despairing dive from Feeley.
As Belcoo played out time with possession of ball, Brian Cox found himself in space and he split the posts from distance to leave it Belcoo 2-7 Derrygonnelly 0-9. Following results elsewhere, Lisnaskea have secured a semi final place at the expense of Derrygonnelly.
