IMPRESSIVE SECOND HALF SECURES WIN FOR SENIORS

SENIORS: Belcoo 0-14 v 0-9 Lisnaskea

Belcoo secured an all important victory in this Round 10 fixture thanks to an impressive second half which seen them outscore their opposition 0-10 to 0-3. In what was an end to end game throughout, Belcoo quite simply blew Lisnaskea away over the closing 20minutes.

The sides where level on 4 occasions in the opening period, Stephen Carters opened the scoring for Lisnaskea before Ronan Ferguson kicked a fine point from play for Belcoo. Conor Curran advanced forward from midfield to register for ‘Skea before Shane McCabe’s screwed over a point from distance against the breeze after a well worked move.

Carters added another point for Skea but Jonathan Feeley responded from an acute angle on the right wing. Daniel Kille added the first scoring free of the evening before Feeley was again on target, this time from well out on the left wing.

Over the closing five minutes of an intriguing half, Lisnaskea pressed on and with the aid of a stiff breeze they went in two points in front. Kevin Curran broke from centre half back to land a score and Daniel Kille added the last score of the half from long range. Half Time Belcoo 0-4 v 0-6 Lisnaskea.

The second half continued where the first ended, the quality of football was high, the pace of the game was fast and both teams kicked some excellent scores. Ronan Ferguson kicked the opening two scores of the second half to draw the sides level for the 5th time at 0-6 each. Aidy Little who was Lisnaskea most dangerous forward in the second half cut in from the right to put the visitors in front again.

Jonathan Feeley leveled matters again but within seconds Little cut in and popped over a similar score to his previous one. On 38minutes Aidy Little got in on goal, his goal bound effort beat goalkeeper James McGrath but the post was on hand to save the home side.

Belcoo drew level again thanks to a long range point from Paul McGrath after a great run from Gavin Leonard. However fom the resulting kick out Lisnaskea broke up the field and Niall McElroy registered what was to be their final score on 42mintues.

Belcoo introduced Philip Leonard to the fray and made some position switches which allowed Niall McGovern, Sean McNulty and John Carrigan to dominant the middle sector of the field and after Ronan Ferguson leveled the game, Philip Leonard was on target to put Belcoo into the lead for the first time.

Paul McGrath fired over his second score of the day from distance to extend Belcoo's lead while Philip Leonard registered two more points from play, the first a long range effort and the second was a drilled score from the left wing after a fine run. Ronan Ferguson added another score to put Belcoo into an unassailable lead with only minutes remaining. Lisnaskea pressed for a goal but Belcoo held firm to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.

At the back, Ryan Leonard and Ryan Dolan were solid throughout while wing backs Stephen Nolan and the returning Eoin Leonard got on a lot of possession. Belcoo now travel to neighbours Garrison for a 3.30pm throw in on Sunday.
