JUNIORS LOSE QUARTER FINAL TO DEVENISH
Jul. 13, 2012
JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER FINAL: Belcoo 1-8 v 1-12 Devenish
Devenish booked their place in the Semi Final of the Reserve A Championship with a 4 point success over neighbours Belcoo on Thursday evening in Derrygonnelly. The Garrison men were the more clinical of the two sides and in the end proved worthy winners.

The early running was made by Devenish who had established a 0-4 to 0-1 lead by the 12th minute. Gavin Gallagher was on target twice while Ruairi Doherty tapped over a free and the lively Ciaran Mulrone also pointed.
Belcoo's sole score had come from Nevan Higgins who rounded over a well worked attack. The O'Rahilly's had their best attacking period midway through the half as Damian Holleran latched onto a loose ball and fired to the net to level matters before Holleran and Ciaran Flaherty added points to give Belcoo a 1-3 to 0-4 advantage.
Devenish however would finish the half on top. Jason Love and John Treacy levelled the score before Love capitalised on a defensive error to race in on goal and rifled a shot past Patrick Sweeney. A late Doherty free gave Devenish a 1-7 to 1-3 interval lead.

In the second half the teams shared 10points. Belcoo had more of the possession in this half but some great defensive work from Devenish allowed them to turnover possession and swiftly spring a counter attack which more often then not yielded a score.
Gavin Gallagher and Holleran traded early points while John Treacy kicked his second of the day for his side. Belcoo responded with two points from Ciaran Flaherty to leave it 1-9 to 1-6. Both goalkeepers were then called into action as Thomas Treacy denied Ian Corrigan and Patrick Sweeney produced a stunning save to tip a Ciaran Mulrone effort over the crossbar.
Over the closing 10minutes Belcoo struggled to make inroads into the deficit, some ponderous attacks petered out while the goal chance they craved never materialised. Frees from Flaherty and Holleran was all they could muster as Devenish had scores from Sean and John Treacy to push them to victory.
For the winners Martin Doherty impressed a wing back with Belcoo's midfield pairing of Gerard Mellor and Seamus Conlon working hard throughout.
