Here we go again

Mar. 24, 2017

We are set to play this Saturday in lovely Gastonia, NC at Martha Rivers. As usual, it's a murderer's row of opponents in Top Gun. We play the Athlete's Lab Crushers out of Hickory, and then the Tega Cay Titans. It sounds like the boys out of Hickory have been working hard since they play out of a place that has a great facility. We are the sons of mill workers around here, and they have some state of the art training techniques and equipment. Things don't get any easier since we have to face a team that only lost twice out of 19 games in the fall. We saw Tega Cay last year and played a pretty bad game against them;  we hope to be able to show better this year. The Titans are a great team, and just competing against them will be a challenge. I am seriously contemplating sneaking 1 or 2 smaller kids from the Middle School team to try and even things out. He with the mustache usually beats the one without. If I can't talk any 14 year olds into playing 9u ball this Saturday, we will give it our best shot with what we have. Pray for the Bandits.

It looks like it may rain Sunday- and I really hope it doesn't. It would be great to play at least four games on a weekend in March. Weather is weird these days, so is anyone really surprised? Please come out and yell loudly at our games, as we will need every advantage possible. There isn't enough time to show the children how to throw a spit ball, so we will have to rely on what we've worked on this year to compete. We are playing very late in the day (the last two games), so that is unusual too.

Speaking of the Middle School team earlier:  Congrats to the Belmont Middle School team for winning Thursday night. Having a lot of good travel teams converge into the MS team means a lot, and hopefully our boys on this 9u team will eventually be in a position to compete to make and play on school teams in the future.  We look forward to seeing everyone at the ballfield tomorrow.
