The weekend showdown awaits....

Jun. 2, 2017

Happy Friday. Our group is eager to play this weekend, and we are slated to play the revised schedule (unless it changes again) at 4:30pm and 6:15pm on Saturday at Martha Rivers Park, Field #3....and then #4 for the second game. We were on the same field with initial schedule, so parents please be prepared to move after our initial game now. So, we play the OTK Saints and then the Lake Norman Dingers. We are unfamiliar with the Saints and what they bring, but we have seen the Dingers before and know they are well-coached and a tough outfit from start to finish. As usual, we have our work cut out for us.

This is a great weekend to play against our Belmont Bandits if you are a competitor. It's been a tough couple weeks of baseball for us. We have had a lot of rain which has cancelled many practices the last couple weeks, we have not played in a tournament in two weeks, we are playing late games which is unusual for us and we have had some spotty practices when we have been able to get on the field. Add onto that our furious finish with the rec soccer league, and we have not played much baseball the last three weeks really. The most ball we've played was the four games we played at the last tournament. So, we need to dip our toe again this weekend, and hopefully the water won't stub it. It's time to get back into full baseball mode before the season is over. We have done very well in our last several games, and typically the baseball odds even out and you get humbled in due time. I tweeted this much on the eve of our first coach pitch game this year:  "....Baseball...is an unforgiving, and wonderful game. #grind". We will be on the guard against that, and hopefully make it out of this tournament .500 or better. We have a couple / few tournaments coming up so we need to begin ramping back up to finish our baseball season strong.

Our first game is at 4:15pm, so please be there at 12:04pm. We will have a three hour practice, then a half hour group meditation, followed by a half our sweat lodge experience in a Native American teepee I've set up around the corner. I think this will physically, mentally, and psychologically prepare us for the games this weekend.
