Welcome to Barre Youth Sports Association's Soccer program!

BYSA is a community based recreational league whose goal is to provide opportunities and education for the players' development of individual skills, good sportsmanship, teamwork, the fun of the game, and healthy competition for boys and girls in the greater Barre area.

Please remember that all of the personnel associated with the BYSA soccer program are volunteers who have donated their time so that your child can enjoy the sport of soccer. If your child’s behavior places him/herself or others in danger he or she will be asked to leave the field.

Teams are available for children in 1st though 8th grades, divided by age and gender. To maximize playing time and touches on ball, grades 1 through 6 compete with not more than 8 players on the field per side. Practice and game schedules vary, but are age appropriate. Please click on the link to the age group you are interested in to find out more. The junior high (7th & 8th grade) teams play with the traditional 11 players, and we try to follow official National Federation Soccer rules, as amended by the Vermont Principals' Association. Along with these teams, BYSA will offer a Kindergarten clinic for ages 4 and 5. The clinic is free and open to all those who would like to participate.

Sign-ups for this fall season have begun with a deadline of 8/6 so that teams can be organized with coaches, corresponding t-shirts and equipment. Late sign-ups are as always difficult to manage as we try to even abilities out on teams, keep teams to 11 or 12 players, and provide coaching to meet the needs. If you would like to register, print out this registration form and mail it in as soon as possible.

As with life, you are your child’s best teacher. Dust off your sneakers and join us on the field if you feel comfortable doing so. Participation is encouraged, but optional. Please remember that all of the personnel associated with the BYSA soccer program are volunteers who have donated their time so that your child can enjoy the sport of soccer.

Some helpful hints for the soccer mom and dad:

1. Please understand that BYSA soccer program is providing an opportunity for your child to play soccer and receive some instructional help. We are not responsible for your child.

2. If you are unable to be with your child at his match or practice, please arrange for the child to be picked up on time or in case of bad weather! Games and practices will stop immediately and will be canceled if lightening or thunder occurs. We require that a parent or other responsible adult be present at all practices and matches for the Kindergarten clinic and the first and second grade children.

3. The end-of-the-season activity (i.e. picnic) is a special event for the children. BYSA soccer does not sponsor this activity so it is up to the parents of the team to plan and organize the event.

4. We appreciate the support parents have shown in past years at the practices and matches. Our parent cheering sections have made the matches fun for the children. However, we do ask that parents and other spectators refrain from "sideline coaching" &/or negative comments. CHEERING ONLY!

5. Please remember that all of the personnel associated with the soccer program are volunteers who have donated their time so that your child can enjoy the sport of soccer. If you have a problem with a coach or referee, our coordinators and advisors are available to help. If your child misbehaves or is uncontrollable he/she may be removed from the program.

6. BYSA soccer will not have a professional photography session. Instead, coaches are encouraged to recruit a parent volunteer to take team photos at a match, develop them, and distribute one to each player.

Thanks again for your interest in BYSA soccer. See you on the pitch!
