Carlow Hockey Club (Representing the county of Carlow)

Welcome to Carlow Hockey Club

Carlow Hockey Club representing county Carlow was established in the early 1970’s but has a history dating back to the 1920s. The club has grown and changed many times over the years. From its humble beginnings we now have one ladies team and a thriving youth section with over 150 boys and girls playing. We are based in I.T. Carlow for training and play our home games in Loreto Kilkenny. Our club colours are Royal blue top and skort/short with yellow trim and yellow socks. Our alternative colours are yellow top and blue skort/short with yellow socks.

Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children in Sport.

Carlow Hockey Club (CHC) is fully committed to safeguarding the well-being of all its participants and will endeavour to create a safe environment for all individuals involved in our sport. Young people deserve to be given enjoyable, safe sporting opportunities and every individual in hockey is required to show respect and understanding for all participants’ rights, safety and welfare. They should conduct themselves in a way that reflects the principles of the organisation.

Carlow Hockey Club will aim, at all times, to ensure that young people can perform to the best of their ability in an atmosphere that is enjoyable and safe, and in an environment free from abuse, neglect, bullying and intimidation.

Junior Section

Junior coaching takes place on Saturday mornings in Carlow I.T. and we welcome all new members from 6 to 16 years of age.  We encourage new junior members and hopefully they will continue on to senior level and even play on interprovincial teams like some of our current  members.

We aim to attend 6 blitzes a season for U6-U12s boys and girls. U14 and U16 girls play league and cup competitions in the South East and West Leinster regions. U14 and U16 boys are still currently in the early development stage across the South East.

Senior Ladies  Section

Carlow Ladies currently have two ladies team who play in the Leinster Hockey Association Sunday League, with training every WEDNESDAY night between 8pm and 9.30pm in Carlow I.T. League and cup matches are played on Sundays. New players are always welcome. If you have never played hockey before why not come along and give it a try! There is a great social aspect to the ladies club so it’s a good opportunity to meet new people and keep fit.

If you are enthusiastic and looking for a fun and ambitious hockey club in the Carlow area, why not come along to training. Follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with our activities.
