Last night the CF Jr Legion Panthers blew a late 3-0 lead only to comeback and win the game in the bottom of the 7th! With the win CF finishes the season in 2nd place for the third consective year.
CF got a gutty proformance by White, Logan on the mound tossing 6 1/3 innings of 1 hit ball. Georgetown did finally get to White in the 5th inning when the lead off batter got hit by a curveball with two strikes on him and the next batter reached on a error. After getting a ground ball to get the 1st out of the inning. CF committed another costly error allowing both leadoff runners to score. White got out of the jam striking out the next two Georgetown batters to end the threat.
CF went 1,2,3 in the bottom of the 6th. White took the mound in the 7th with a 3-2 lead. The lead off batter got hit by another 2 stirke pitch, the next batter walked and the Georgetown rally was on. The third batter of the inning hit to Nunes, Justin for the 1st out of the inning. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Georgetown clean up hitter hit a ball deep to centerfield where CF centerfielder Schildt, Camren misplayed to allow both runners to score. The next hitter again hit to 2B Nunes for the 2nd out of the inning. Georgetown added another run to go up 6-3.
Not showing any fear but frustration CF players got together in the dugout and rallied around each other. The lead off batter for the Panthers in the bottom was Sampollo, Stephen who walked. The very next batter was Nunes, Justin who doubled and now with runners at 2nd and 3rd Coach Schildt had a tough decision to make. Stepping to the plate with Frishmuth, Jakob, Jakob's two previous at bats resulted in 2 K's. Georgetown made a pitching change and Coach Schildt told Frishmuth that he had faith in him and that he was going to come through. And come through he did, Frishmuth hit the 2nd pitch he saw deep to right field for a 2 RBI triple! With Frishmuth on 3B lead off hitter Rothenberg, Hayden had the game winning single to cap another come from behind win! This makes the 2nd comeback victory in the past two games.
The win puts CF record at 7-3 in the region and 11-4 overall. The next game with be when they host the 1st round of the Jr. Legion playoff on Monday evening @ 7pm. Their opponet will be either South Florence or Cheraw.

Jul 1, 2012 - CF Remains King of Comebacks!
Today in a rare Sunday afternoon game the CF Legion team remained the King of Comebacks with their 5-4 comeback win over Murrells Inlet. The young CF Legion team had to play the game missing key players Ryan Yurachek and Hayden Rothenberg as well as playing in a 100+ degree heat!
CF dug themselves into a early hole allowing Murrells Inlet to grab a early 4-2 lead. The defense that was normally a strong suit was a little sluggish and bogged down by the heat. Starter Lindaberry, Caleb did a great job keeping the Murrells Inlet batters off balance as well as the game close for his CF batters. The game changed in 3rd inning, CF scored a run to put the game at 4-3. After recording the 1st out in the top of the 4th, Coach Schildt pulled starter Lindaberry and went with Stewart, Aiden the ball. Stewart took the ball and shut down the Murrells Inlet batters.
Stewart threw 3 2/3 innings of 1 hit, and had 7 strikeouts! Stewart and Lindaberry threw well for CF. Then trailing 4-3 in the 7th CF found a way to get the win. After leadoff hitter Cauble, Cameron and Sampollo, Stephen got hit by a pitches, Aaron Ray walked to load the bases. The next hitter Lembcke walked to drive in a run. With the game tied at 4 a piece, Coach Schildt called for a suicide squeeze. As the pitch was high and outside, Stephen Sampollo scored the game winning run. The win puts CF's record at 6-3 in the league with a big season finale game scheduled for next Tuesday, July 3rd at 7:00 against Georgetown at Carolina Forest.
