Oneonta "Flash" Forbes Invitational

Sep. 12, 2017

The Long Blue Line Harriers kicked off their 2017 season at Fortin Park in Oneonta.    In an unprecedented display of early fitness, 9 Forks runners established new PR's (Personal Records) for the 5k distance.  In the first race of the day, Dylan Templeton led the Varsity Boys across the line in 18:45 floowed closely by Matt Conklin in 18:52.  Our third finisher was Allen Lawton, who accomplished something few ever have by running a sub-20 minute 5k (19:41) in his first ever attempt at the distance.  Dante Hovancik ran a 1:20 PR (20:15) as our fourth finisher and Zach Szigeti lopped nearly 2 minutes off his previous best by running 20:27.  In his first ever race, Daniel Flynn ran 20:45, another very good first race effort.  Thomas Wachter lowered his PR by over 2 minutes running 23:39.

In the Girls Varsity Race, Syanne Lawton and Sarah Knox finished less than a second apart, both running 21:50.  Katie Flynn was right behind in 22:12 but it was the next three runners across the line that were the stars of the day.  Lindsey Szalach (23:13), Loretta Wachter (24:16) and Zoe Nestoryak (24:!8) all ran significant PR's to start the season.  The girls team finished in 5th place beating traditional powerhouses Vestal, UE, Owego, Norwich and Oneonta, among others.

A solid start to the season!
