Swarm test the regional league, add two cross league games
Jul. 4, 2017
The Chillicothe Swarm have added two cross league games to the tail end of the schedule. Members of the Midwest Football Alliance (MFA), the Swarm will compete against the KC Marshals and the East Central Missouri Eagles, of the Midwest Football League. The Swarm are currently 0-6 in "league" play, while the rest of the MFA teams have winning records, except the Des Moines Blaze, who currently sit at 3-3. Though MFA teams will battle it out down the stretch to determine playoff seating, all other MFA teams have played 'cross league' games, so far this season.
According to the MFL website, the Marshals are currently 2-4 and the Eagles are also 0-6. Both teams have struggled similarly to the Swarm. The Marshals have averaged 10.7 PPG allowing 34.0 points, while the St. Louis based Eagles have averaged 4.0 PPG allowing 33.5 points per game. The Swarm has shown growth this season putting together some good individual quarters on defense, and continue to improve on offensive yardage throughout the season. But the first year team has just failed to put it all together, so far, to stop opponents or get into the endzone.
The Swarm will play both teams at home, with the Marshals on July 15 and the Eagles on July 22. Kickoff times for both games will be 7 p.m.
Right: WR Tanner Johnson currently leads the MFA league in Kick Returns, Kick Return Yardage, with 16 KRs for 414 yards and has the longest return in the league for the season, a 100 yard TD against the Omaha Stockmen.
