Oct 1, 2015 - Doug Conley Invitational
Shalimar Country Club, in Tempe, was the host site for this year's Doug Conley Invitational. It was a flat, fast route around the golf course and it produced some great racing. Early in the morning, the temperature was was still relatively cool for the open races.
The open girls race was the first race on tap for the Chandler harriers and they were led by freshman Netawn Marsoobian, 21st overall, to a 5th place finish as a team out of 30 schools. Lanie Hindenes and Kamy Kjerstad followed closely behind to make a strong 1-2-3 punch for the team. Katherine David had a huge race and broke her PR by over 2 minutes to come in at 22:57. In the boys open race, Justin Taylor was the team's top finisher in a time of 19:28 while fellow freshman, Jake Coolidge, broke 20 minutes for the first time. Every Chandler boy in the open race ran a PR, a very rare occurence!
In the boys invitational race the Wolves squad finished 7th out of 28 teams; a huge improvement from last year when they finished last as a team. Michael Gonzales was the top finisher in a time of 16:27, good for 4th overall. Chris Ruiz and Daniel Lander also had big breakthrough's finishing in 17:05 and 17:52, respectively. Rounding out the top 5 for Chandler was Ryan Taylor and Malik Hunt.
In the Girls Elite race, the Chandler squad showed their dominance once again as they turned in an excellent performance. They left no doubt that they will be a team to be reckoned with on the state level this year. Super frosh, Morgan Foster, ran 18:04 to finish 2nd overall and senior stand out Alexis Nichols was 5th overall in 18:21. Becca Taylor was in 9th place for the Wolves with 30m to go when she frighteningly collapsed and was unable to finish the race. Ava Hamilton, Mihajla Milovanovic, and Gabby Enns finished out the scoring for Chandler; all finishing in the top 35. Even after losing a top ten finisher, the Wolves beat second place by an astonishing 70 points. Becca is recovering well after her fall and will make a full recovery.
It was a great weekend for Chandler High out on the golf course as they saw an abundance of PR's across the entire team. Next on the schedule is the Desert Twilight meet in Casa Grande. It should be a great evening of racing under the Friday night lights!
Sep 24, 2015 - Ojo Rojo Invitational

Sep 13, 2015 - Chandler Invite
It was a great opening weekend for the Chandler High School harriers. The Chandler Invitational is in a different format than most meets; the races are divided up by class. There is an all freshman race for the boys and girls, followed by the sophomores, juniors, and seniors. It's a great early season format that allows the runners to ease into their season a little and for the newcomers to gain some experience before running in the varsity races later in the season.
Morgan Foster, Becca Taylor, and Mihajla Milovanovic finished 2nd, 3rd, and 6th respectively in the freshman girls race and had 3 of the top times from the entire meet. They were first overall in the freshman division as a team. The boys freshmen were led by Ryan Taylor who came 7th overall in an outstanding time of 17:53.
The sophomore girls race was won by Chandler's, Ava Hamilton, in a time of 18:59 which was tied for the best time of the day. In the boys race, Chris Ruiz was the top Chandler finisher in a time of 18:39. Roman Macias and Michael Delarosa were running their frist cross country race ever and both had strong finishes.
Gabby Enns ran a very strong race for the junior girls to take 2nd place overall and also had one of the top times of the day at 19:23, a 35 second PR from last year. nate Smith was the top boys finisher for the juniors while Jay Depler and Cameron Allen both ran big PR's to kick off the season.
The girls had another class winner as Alexis Nichols took over in the second mile of her race and won convincingly in a time of 19:18, almost 1 minute faster than she opened up the season last year. Michael Gonzales was the top finisher for the boys, crossing the line in a time of 17:03, a 30 second PR. Daniel Lander also kicked off his season on a positive note running a personal best in his first race of the season.
In team scoring, the girls had a 2nd, 1st, 2nd, and 1st to finish first overall with a total of 6 points; the lowest score in meet history! Second place was well back with a score of 40. The boys team finished 16th overall which is much improved from their 35th place finish last year.
