May 25, 2018 - Cougars Season Ends at Powhatan.

The Cougars, making their deepest playoff run since 2011 saw their season end on the road last night at Powhatan.  The Indians tallied 17 runs on 16 hits, including two homeruns and eight doubles.  

Senior, Luke Harvey, winner of three straight decisions suffered the loss on the evening.

The lone run for the Cougars scored in the top of the sixth when senior infielder, Garrett Howard hit a one-out single.  He took second on a passed ball and later scored on a single up the middle by sophomore outfielder, Addie Burrow.  Junior shortstop, Trevor Ferares singled earlier in the night and sophomore call-up, Ty Lowe doubled.

The Cougars finish their season with a 13-9 overall record.

Cougar Baseball offers a sincere thanks to all those that supported us this year.  Thank you to all parents that provided game day meals and ran the roads to and from games and practices.  Thank you to Coach Lowman, Mr. Conway, Ms. Gast, and Mrs. White for their first-class support of our players and coaches.  And a special thank you to Mrs. Acors, Mrs. Meek, Mrs. Means, Mrs. Knisley, Mrs. Pins, Mrs. Szakelyhidi, and all our children for their love, support, patience, and understanding while we go out and chase big dreams, as if we were kids ourselves.  We are looking forward to 2019 and wish our graduating seniors all the best in everything they do.

May 24, 2018 - Burrow's Walk-Off Gives Cougars Regional Victory

The Cougars faced a tough test yesterday afternoon in the first round of the Region 4B Tournament.  They had to try and defeat for the third time in three tough games, District and Region foe, King George.  First-team All-Battlefield District left-hander, Kenny Frank held the Cougars offense in check for six plus innings when he hit senior infielder, Garrett Howard with a pitch.  With one out, Howard stole second base brining sophomore outfielder, Addie Burrow to the dish.  Burrow hit an 0-2 pitch from Frank into left, scoring Howard on the walk-off winner, 4-3.

Seniors, Alex KobersteenGarrett Howard, and Stephen Bowen all singled for the Cougars with Kobersteen and Bowen driving in runs.  Senior, Ryan Lee scored twice and senior outfielder, Luke Harvey scored the other run on the day.

Junior right-hander, Patrick Millner started on the mound for the Cougars.  He worked four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out two.  He gave way with one on in the fifth to senior stopper, Alex Kobersteen.  Kobersteen earned his fourth victory of the 2018 season working three innings, allowing one earned on three hits while striking out seven.

The victory is the thirteenth for the Cougars on the season.  They improve to 13-8 overall, 10-3 in the Battlefield, and 1-0 in postseason play.  It is also their first Regional Tournament victory since 2010.  They travel to number two seeded Powhatan for the Region 4B Quarterfinal round tonight against the Indians.  First pitch is scheduled for 6 pm at Powhatan High School.

May 22, 2018 - Lowe Closes Out Championship Season in Dominate Fashion

Sophomore right-hander, Ty Lowe went the distance on the mound in the JV Championship game yesterday afternoon.  Lowe started on the mound when the game began on May 15 and picked up right where he left off, tossing three scoreless to finish the complete game shutout of the Chargers of Chancellor.  Lowe scattered four hits, struck out eight and walked three en route to the 9-0 victory for the Cougars.

At the plate, Lowe went 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.  Sophomore first baseman, Aidan Forster went 2-3 with a double and two RBI.  Freshman infielder, Trey Burton also added two hits.  Sophomores, Chaz Snead and Owen Reilly each scored two runs for the Cougar Cubs.

The JV Cougars finish their season with a 15-4 overall record and win the second consecutive JV Championship for the program.  Their 10-1 record in District play gives them an 18-3 record in the Battlefield over the past two seasons.

Coach Acors on the completion of the JV season- "We are so proud of our young guys for not only their success on the baseball field in 2018, but the way they conduct themselves in the school building and how they represent our program in the community.  We are certain that our program is in good hands moving forward because of the complete buy-in we are receiving from our underclassmen.  The sky is the limit for this group as we continue to build, brick by brick.  We are going to savor our second straight JV title and get back to work this fall on continuing the winning tradition."

May 16, 2018 - Cougars Earn a Share of Battlefield Title, Lose Early to Knights

The Cougars entered last night's game at Spotsylvania in sole possession of first place.  A victory would seal their place in Battlefield District history.  The Knights jumped out to an early lead and would go on to win, 10-0.  Both the Knights and your Cougars finish with identical 9-3 record in District play and finish the regular season as Co-District Champions.

Senior, Alex Kobersteen had two hits for the Cougars while senior, Jack Sumler added one.  Junior shortstop, Trevor Ferares hit a triple.

Junior right-hander, Patrick Millner suffered the loss on the mound for the Cougars.  

The Cougars finish the regular season 12-8 overall and 9-3 in the Battlefield District.  After starting the season 3-6, they won nine of their last eleven games.

They will move on to the Region 4B Tournament beginning next week.

May 15, 2018 - JV Cougars Sweep Knights in Dominating Fashion

The JV Cougars finished up the regular season with a sweep of Spotsylvania yesterday afternoon by the final of 11-1.

Sophomore infielder, Chaz Snead went 3-3 with two triples, two RBI, and a two runs scored.  Sophomores, Owen Reilly and Ty Lowe each had two hits apiece, with Lowe driving in one run and Reilly driving in one.  

Sophomore righty, Jayden Tetzlaff earned the complete game (five inning) victory, one earned on five scattered hits, while striking out five and walking none.

The JV Cougars finish the regular season, 14-4 overall and 9-1 in the Battlefield.  They will defend their 2018 JV Championship this evening against top seeded, Chancellor with whom they split on the regular season.  The Championship game will be played at 7 pm at King George high School.
