Senior right-hander, Alex Kobersteen came on in relief during a rocky first inning and earned his first victory of the 2018 season, working six and two-thirds innings, allowing no runs on just two hits, while striking out ten and walking one.  The Cougars trailed 4-0 after just one inning of play.

Senior left fielder, Garrett Howard reached on an error in the bottom of the first and took second on the errant throw.  After moving to third on a passed ball, Howard scored the Cougars first run on an RBI groudout by senior right fielder, Luke Harvey.  The score remained 4-1 until the fifth when shortstop, Trevor Ferares was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.  Ferares advanced to second on a single to center field by second baseman, Cole Ely.  Senior catcher, Jack Sumler hit into a fielder's choice, eliminating Ely at second, but Ferares hustled home for the Cougars' second run on a wild throw to first on the double play attempt.

Down by two in the last frame, Sumler drew a leadoff walk and immediately stole second base.  He advanced to third when junior third baseman, Dustin Gough singled to left.  Howard drew a walk,  Sumler scored one pitch later on a passed ball, while Gough and Howard advanced one base apiece.  Sophomore center fielder, Addie Burrow hit a deep sac fly to center, plating Gough and the tying run.  Howard advanced to third on the throw to the plate, setting the stage for Harvey's heroics.  Harvey hit a 1-0 pitch softly on the ground to third and was standing on first base before the Knights third baseman could make a play.  Howard scored on the squibber and sealed victory, 5-4.
