Coach Acors on the completion of the JV season- "We are so proud of our young guys for not only their success on the baseball field in 2018, but the way they conduct themselves in the school building and how they represent our program in the community.  We are certain that our program is in good hands moving forward because of the complete buy-in we are receiving from our underclassmen.  The sky is the limit for this group as we continue to build, brick by brick.  We are going to savor our second straight JV title and get back to work this fall on continuing the winning tradition."

May 11, 2018 - Kobersteen Rises to the Occasion on Senior Night

Yesterday afternoon's game was slated to start at 4:30 pm, preceded by a ceremony to honor the Cougars' seven senior baseball players.  After a thunderstorm caused the festivities to be delayed, the first pitch from senior right-hander, Luke Harvey wasn't delivered until 6:22 pm.

After a scoreless top of the first, senior infielder, Garrett Howard led off the Cougar half with a walk.  Sophomore centerfielder, Addie Burrow laced a single to left that was misplayed.  Howard scored from first and Burrow raced to third on the two-base error.  Burrow scored on an RBI groundout by senior, Alex Kobersteen.  Harvey would toss four strong allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits.  Harvey gave way to Kobersteen in the top of the fifth.  He held the Foxes scoreless through a retro Courtland sun delay in the bottom of the sixth.  The Foxes threatened in the top of the seventh, loading the bases with two out before another lightning delay stopped play for more than an hour.  Kobersteen induced a groundball out to second baseman, Cole Ely stopping the threat and setting the stage for more extra-inning, senior night heroics.

The Cougars failed to score in the seventh, eighth, and ninth but Kobersteen (3 W-2 L, 1 S) held strong.  Through five innings of work, he allowed no runs on three hits while walking three and striking out five.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Burrow reached second on an error to lead off the inning.  He advanced to third on a dropped third strike.  With one out, Alex Kobersteen stepped to the plate.  On the first pitch he saw, the senior hammered a double over the left-fielder's head plating Burrow for the walk-off win.

The Cougars (12-7, 9-2) close out their regular season on the road at Spotsylvania, Monday May 14 at 7 pm.

The winning pitcher was sophmore right-hander, Jayden Tetzlaff started on the mound for the Cougar Cubs.  He tossed three innings and allowed one (unearned) run on two hits while walking one and striking out two.  Sophomore, Josh Coss worked the fourth inning and gave up two earned on two hits and three bases on balls.  Sophomore, Aidan Forster pitched a perfect fifth, striking out two of the three hitters he faced.
